I can now happily report that Theo ( either a stray or feral - about a year and 4 months) is presently well integrated into the 'family' here and seems to  be tolerated by our two much older cats though there are times when paws are raised. What intrigues me and I would like to get some feedback...

Thanks for info. I found the safety collars which separate if required for safety  and a self-serve tag engraving machine that is not too expensive to use at the local Pet Smart store.

Thanks for the quick reply . The breakaway collars are a good idea but obviously getting engraved name tags would be asking for trouble , because of their cost,  if one needed to keep replacing them.  But one can use a simple plastic protected label to get around that problem.  Michael

This is an update on my attempting to socialize a feral or stray cat that is roughly 13-15 months old - THEO a male.  I have made great progress with Theo.  I can now pick him up easily, he is happy to lie beside me, even on me if I am reclining on a couch.. He seems so much calmer and purrs...
