    Oscar Is Missing

So here are some photos of our man Oscar. He has quickly learned that there is food on the kitchen table up away from the dogs. The first time I saw him there I'm not sure who was more surprised, me or him but it did tell me that he was obviously finding his way around more than I was aware...

    Oscar Is Missing

Thank you all very much. We are so relieved but I'm sure we don't compare to Oscar. Why he never cried or made any noise when being called until yesterday I don't understand but it is what it is. I didn't see him in any of his cubby holes this morning when I got up so of course I called him and...

    Oscar Is Missing

I am beyond happy to report that Oscar has been found! There was also work being done on the bathtub and a panel had been removed and replaced and somehow he was sealed in there. We heard scratching and immediately cut the panel back off. He was scared and hissing but came out for a bowl of...

    Oscar Is Missing

Thank you, I may try the dog crate. We took his down a few weeks ago as he no longer went in there to lay but he was used to it. He would return there and hang out on his blanket after we started leaving the door open. If I can get close enough I may just risk the bite and try to grab him. I...

    Oscar Is Missing

It's amazing how quickly you get attached to these guys. He has this great big old teddy bear tom cat head and was actually rolling over and reaching out with a paw when I brushed him and then stopped. I've been calling and calling him but nothing. I would have thought he would be back for food...

    Oscar Is Missing

Thank you for the reply. There has been dry food out since we realized he was gone and not just hiding in the house. It is untouched. I was afraid that I wouldn't be able to recapture in the trap. I doubt that I will be able to just pick him up and carry him back indoors. It was my plan to...

    Oscar Is Missing

Some of you may remember I wrote in about the feral cat Oscar that had been shot and finally trapped and vetted. Oscar was doing wonderful. He had adapted to our busy household eating with the other cats and even doing head rubs with one of them. He was letting me brush him and coming when he...

    Helping Older Feral Cat

Oscar update. I am continuing with the head rubs and he definitely seems to enjoy it. Some of the cats are starting to come into the family room while I'm down there and I quickly give them some treats. Monti, my sweetest orange boy who has seen others come in during his 11 yrs came and walked...

    Helping Older Feral Cat

Lol, Nah, she's 6+ years and none of the animals pay any attention to her even when she squeaks for food. The most they do is hang out under her pen and eat scraps of hay that fall. It's something called Orchard grass and very soft so they like it.

    Helping Older Feral Cat

That would make me super happy to tell you.. that he found his place. That is my biggest concern. The youngest to come in and they are 7 now is the litter of four that I'm sure two are his sons. The two girls from the littler are torties, so not sure but mom may have been a tortie. A neighbor...

    Helping Older Feral Cat

Thank you to everyone for the encouragement. Oscar is doing well. I actually tried the duster thing last night and after some rubbing with that I did manage to run his head a little with my hand. So now we go down and hang out in the crate with him and even though he hisses his eyes aren't...

    Helping Older Feral Cat

Hi again, Here is our situation with Oscar. He is in what is a half sunken family room with windows at ground level. There is an open wall which he faces that allows him to see everything going on upstairs in the dining room, through to the kitchen which is where we spend most of our time. We...

    Helping Older Feral Cat

Hello, Oscar is doing well. He is a personality study. Hisses and snarls at us when we go into the family room where he is stationed but let's us put treats under his nose and eats them while we are in the crate with him. Last night I managed to give him clean blankets without having to get him...

    Helping Older Feral Cat

Thank you very much. The house is busy, there is just me and a significant other who is also very kind and patient. The biggest thing is all the other cats. We've had to put litter boxes upstairs. Even though he is in a big crate in a large room which is outfitted strictly for the cats with...

    Helping Older Feral Cat

Hello, I'm new to this site but glad to find it and hoping for some help and encouragement. In hopes of keeping this on the shorter side...I have been feeding a feral stray for several years. I am convinced he is the father of a litter of four that I took in seven years ago. He was badly hurt at...
