    Help Needed with Liquid Medicine!

I find liquid the easiest way to go. Again, like many others who have posted I mix it with wet food, tuna water or some other treat. If the med has a strong bitter taste is it a bit harder to cover up but it usually does the trick. Some vets will add flavoring which is a great help!

    Splitting cats up?

I agree that splitting them up is not the way to go. Maybe your parents would take them both, if that works and they seem happy maybe that is the way to go.

Is a Zoom Groom a brush of some kind?

    What is this?

I'm horrified to hear the response you got from the shelter. What a terrible attitude! Best of luck with your new kitty and I agree that glass & ceramic bowls are probably the way to go.

    Question about Clavamox

Curious... has your kitten been treated with for coccidia? It is the most common cause for watery poop in kittens and it is normally treated with Albon. If the watery poop comes back I would ask your vet about it.

    Canned Pumpkin as Hairball Preventative

I recently started adding pumkin to my cats diet based on by Vet's recommendation. I have both hairball issues and some soft stool issues and the additional fiber in the pumpkin I guess is good for both. It has to be 100% pumpkin not the pumpkin pie filling which comes in a very similar...

    What is this?

At the shelter I am at we often see cats with what is like kitty acne. It's usually on the chin, sort of black specs and the skin can be dry. They can get it from rubbing against their bowls when they eat. The oils from the food gets on their chin and bothers the skin. Definately don't...

Older Maine Coon Cat having problems grooming

Smokey is just over 13 years old and doesn't groom like she used to. She just doesn't reach the back 1/3 of her body. I started giving her cosequin 3 years ago which helped for a while but now as she'd gotten older we are back to square one. She has never been a big fan of being brushed but...

what are safe over-the-counter remedies for cats with diaherrea?

In my experience the Albon can take up to a week to make a difference in the the poops of infected kittens. Also, with coccidia, you have to be very aware of how clean their box is. If they step in the poop they can reinfect themselves and it can take a long time to get rid of. Of course...

    Litter liner: Good idea/bad idea

Gee, my experience is so different. I use a liner that has an elastic band so it hugs the litter box and doesn't move or fall out of place. I LOVE it! I have 5 cats so I change a lot of litter and the liner makes it very easy. Occasionally one of the cats will poke a tiny hole in it but it...

    Please Help!!!

Coccidia is a very very common cause of diarrhea in kittens and no, you don't have to worry about getting it. If that is the problem your vet will most likely prescribe Albon. It's a yellowish thick liquid like medicine that it easy to administer. I've had similar situations with kittens I've...

    Help with Kitty Diarrhea

One of my cats has a mild case of diarrhea. She does one formed stool and then the second and sometimes third become diarrhea. She is about a year old, eating fine and very playful as usual. I just got back yesterday from a 4 day trip and the cats stayed home with a sitter. Also, they are...

Anyone know a rescue group that will take FIV positive kittens?

Great idea! I did get some good information from Best Friends in Utah but they don't have any spaces available. It would be ideal to find someone local.

Bully cat wont stop attacking my cat

As mentioned in this thread before the only way to ensure that your cat won't get - an assortment of parasites, diseases, attacked by a dog, cat or other wild animal, hit by a car, etc. is to keep him inside. Since this option doesn't appeal to you, having the other cat "fixed" is probably the...
