    Abscessed Claw Prevention

River went to the vet today because she had a limp, it turned out one of her toes/claws was abscessed.  The vet said she either snagged it, or it was from a claw trim. I trim my cats' nails about once a month, and the big reason I trim hers is she does tend to snag them (she has a...

    Do you walk your cats?

I just bought a harness, I've only taken the two big kitties to sit on the back step so far (it's too cold to explore) but they're actually doing really well on it in the house.  I'm surprised.

Age to go to 2x's a day feedings?

She can't be free fed because my adult cats can't really be free fed dry/dehydrated food.  If I left food out it would have to be urinary tract, which wouldn't be very good for her, either.  Separating her from them isn't a very good option, they get along well and my house is very small.  She...

Lucy wonr eat any cat food Picky?Finicky?a Diva?

You probably won't like this, but could she be holding out for something better?  It sounds like you've bent over backwards to accommodate her (different foods, adding human food, etc) so I'm wondering if she's just being picky?  And if that's the case, maybe going for something really basic...

    Got a Kitten for Christmas

I would be giving her kitten milk replacer- she's still young to be without mom.  I had my kitten on it until around 8-9 weeks.  Keep in mind they need to be dewormed more than once.

    Do you walk your cats?

I really want to start, but I'm afraid to!  One of my cats periodically escapes (and returns) and I think he'd do really well on it.  Another is afraid of the outside, but I'd like to take him outside on a leash to get him less afraid, in case he slips out I don't want him to end up getting lost...

Age to go to 2x's a day feedings?

I'm currently feeding 3xs a day (most days, sometimes I fall asleep early or have to be out all day and she only gets two meals) but I want to cut it down to twice.  I'm wondering at what point I can do that?  The kitten is a little small, 4.5 months and 3.5 lbs.  But she's proportional, she's a...

Cat tree (or cat stump?) recommendations.

I ended up buying one similar to this http://www.overstock.com/Pet-Supplies/Go-Pet-Club-Cat-Tree-Furniture/6385021/product.html gently used from a neighbor. It works out well because she can only get to the bottom house, unless I move a chair beside it, then she can climb higher with...

    Decent Kitten Dry?

Fancy Feast kitten, Iams kitten, and Authority kitten usually. I feed my adult cats a rotation of authority, special kitty pate (similar to 9lives pate), friskies pate, and trader Joe's- so sometimes she gets one of those, but I'm trying to feed her mostly kitten.

    Decent Kitten Dry?

My kitten has been solely on wet food to this point, but she eating so much I need to start adding dry.  Or win the lotto. Heh.  My plan is to sprinkle it over her wet food (my adult cats get fed wet only for now, I wouldn't be able to sit it out since they'd just scarf it).  I'd like something...

Cat tree (or cat stump?) recommendations.

Yes, we're keeping a close eye. So far she doesn't seem to be losing any skills, although she does seem to think being a ground cat is a good plan (not as interested in climbing as she was a couple weeks ago, probably because she's not a fan of the falling?). The vet basically shrugged and...

Cat tree (or cat stump?) recommendations.

It's looking like River has mild Cerebral Hypoplasia (or something similar). I want to get some sort of carpeted cat tree to encourage climbing and (low) jumps. She's about 3 months and at this point can't jump up, has difficulty landing when jumping from about one foot off the ground, and has...

Guilty things you give your cat you know you shouldn't

I give my cats small amounts of cooked meat or eggs a couple times a week (I don't consider this bad, though!) I have one cat who will eat through a bag of bakery bread to get to it. Only bakery bread, though, not the cheap presliced mass produced bread. He also has a fondness for peanut...
