I get a better response when I make the wand toy "disappear" around a corner, behind a box, under a rug/box. Then I'll make it appear and disappear a few times. Once I get them chasing it, they will go nuts for a few minutes trying to catch it - and I'll start all over again.
Cats hate change and your poor guy has gone through three or four major changes in a short period of time. Unfortunately, you are the only common denominator for all those changes so he is "blaming" you. Treats and play and time and he should come around.
I stepped on my former-feral Barry's tail once - he made a terrible noise and hid from me until I left for work. I got the most pitiful looks from him too. He was fine, physically and emotionally, when I got home from work. I don't know if the screech surprised me more or if it was the fact...
Keep the faith people!! Often time, a lot more time than you would expect, will bring them together.
Duncan (orange and white) still kicks Barry (mackerel tabby) out of the prime spots, but he no longer guards our bed from "invasion" The bed was Duncan's last spot of exclusive territory as...
My then 2 year old boys accepted our new kitten relatively quickly, but at first they were really perplexed by her - they just didn't know what to do. One of them hissed and ran away. The other one just laid down and watched her.
Just keep them visiting each [supervised] other for longer and...
I'm going to give a little contrarian advice: Don't ignore the new bengal. Your brother talk to it constantly whenever he is in the room (or about to go into the room) He should sit on the floor and just talk - not necessarily making eye contact, but just be there and be non-threatening...
There is "dominance grooming" when my guy does it, it is basically lick-lick-bite, lick-lick-bite which eventually devolves into wrestling. Relatively harmless.
Your guys sound like typical cats' rough play. As long as one of them doesn't always "lose" or seem fearful, you should be OK...
Two of mine figured out how to play fetch by themselves. They just started bringing the toys back on their own. They are picky about what they will play fetch with though - not every toy is a winner.
My suggestion, to wear him out is to get him to go vertical - I play fetch up the stairs or...
I've trained my cats to do several things, mostly variations of coming when called ("who wants to eat" "who wants to play") but there is also "belly rub" and "get up" and "get down"
I've learned two things by this: First, it is easier to get a cat to do something because there is a cool...
I stepped on my feral's tail once - got a good shriek out of him. I'm a little surprised I could do that because up to that point he was friendly but often kept a safe distance. He ran and hid and gave me the most pitiful looks until I went to work. All was forgiven once I got home.
Just...
I have a former feral who took a long time to totally trust me. During that time I stuffed him very unceremoniously into a carrier for a move and after that wore off, I stepped on his tail (I was pretty impressed that he let me get close enough to actually do that)
To win him back took time...
