Oh my goodness! I think I definitely want to take a Pet First Aid/CPR course now.
I think I will need to block off the tall dresser, but the memory foam pillows sound like a great idea. She's my only climber out of the three and I worry about her since she has always been a bit small and fragile.
I'm so sorry for your loss. It is the hardest and most loving act we can do for our beloved fur babies.
Know that he was thankful and happy you were there with him in his last moments. You, who loved him, are his last living memory. But I believe in an afterlife and I believe you will have many...
Have to share my wonderful news...
I've not been on this board for awhile as I've been busy being a foster mom - but not to kittens, instead a darling set of siblings!
For their privacy I'll refer to them as Bunny (9), Bear (8), and Monkey (6), two girls and a boy.
We will hopefully be...
The behavioral question is - are there enough litter boxes? Theory is you need one litter box per cat plus one and repeated on each floor. So I have a two story townhouse and 3 cats so 8 litter boxes total.
I'm sure the other cats are marking because of this new stranger. Do they get along...
It's been a long time since I had to deal with fleas (indoor cats as well). Unfortunately you can pick them up and transfer them so easily.
Have you used anything on your cat (Advantage? Frontline?). You really need to put a topical ointment on him and not just combing. Because he is indoors...
I'm using the Breeze litter pellet system. I have three cats and I love it because it does seem to trap the odor. There isn't much kicking out and the pellets last forever (I bought a 6 pack box from Amazon a year ago that is finally running out).
We didn't have a problem with our cats but...
Well, Sasha came out of the radiation therapy for her cancer just fine. She did well during the treatments and her one month follow up was very promising.
But on Sunday morning she had a 10-15 sec grand mal seizure.
It was very upsetting for us but she has been normal since it happened. I...
My understanding from my vet is that anything petroleum should be an "in a pinch" solution and straight up Vaseline is always a "no no" - I believe it causes them to not be able to absorb certain Vitamins. I've instead used fish oil (the OTC pills you can buy) and when Kinko was being fussy...
I wouldn't recommend Vaseline as a treatment for oral ingestion. I've used it to help a constipated cat by inserting it anally with a q-tip (per vet's orders) but Vasaline and any petroleum jelly based product is potentially harmful to cats.
I also recommend slowly adding things to his diet...
There are a few other places - but all equally as far. I'm at the northermost tip of Los Angeles and all options lead to places that are far in distance (LA is huge!). A few places recommended were in Tustin and Oxnard which are so so far away!
Ultimately, I opted with the Veterinary Cancer...
Thanks for the great tips!
I was so lucky with Kinko. He loved car rides. I bought a carrier that had an attached hook that connected to his harness. He could stand up and walk a bit or curl up to sleep but it was taught enough to keep him from being able to jump under my feet while driving. He...
Thank you for the feedback mrsgreenjeens!
I finally got the consultation today:
20 treatments over 4 weeks of laser radiation therapy
The location of the treatment is far from where I live so I may board her there from M-F and bring her home on the weekends.
I hate doing it, but I think it...
Two weeks after I lost my Angel Kitty Kinko I got the news that my littlest sweetheart, Sasha, has Neurofibrosarcoma.
It's extremely rare and in an unusal spot (her nose).
They believe radiation therapy will work but I'm uncertain of the procedure and if she might be radioactive after her...
