Cat + Baby = disaster. Please help my cat eat again.

Aaand he's back out. What was that, five minutes?  Oh, well.  Perhaps he'll be back again tonight.  And he ate something, however little, while he was in.

Cat + Baby = disaster. Please help my cat eat again.

Well, he's back in the house right now, anyway.  Today he's been in three times, beginning this morning, all short stays.  He still hasn't eaten much, though.  I've been bringing him food outside and leaving some inside for him, too, and letting him in and out as he wants.  This morning he was...

Cat + Baby = disaster. Please help my cat eat again.

Worse than ever. He's now camped out permanently in the back shed.  He has eaten maybe two bites of tuna since yesterday.  He doesn't come to the door anymore when I call him -- I have to go out to find him.  The vet was able to get me a liquid suspension of his medicine; I just gave it to him...

Cat + Baby = disaster. Please help my cat eat again.

The really weird thing is that this cat has always dealt well with change.  New house?  Cool!  He'll check out every corner and then plop down contentedly in the middle of the floor.  Going on a trip and leaving him with a sitter?  More people to love on him!  When we moved in here, my husband...

    Now, that's ironic.

Cat + Baby = disaster. Please help my cat eat again.

Okay, so I'm having cat vs. baby issues.  Some background: my cat is 14 years old.  For the past year or so he's had some issues with diarrhea (in fact, I posted about it here a few months ago).  I've had him tested for everything under the sun, and he tests clear for everything (thyroid is...

Chronic diarrhea; God help us all

Though at least he has stopped stepping in it, thank God.

Well, so far no change.  Perhaps I'm just impatient.

Chronic diarrhea; God help us all

Interesting; thanks!  I Googled Clostridium as well and his symptoms match the description perfectly.  So I'm hopeful, anyway. In a moment of perfect hilarity, the office called to tell me the cat was ready to be picked up, so I went over.  But it was taking them forever to bring him out. ...

Chronic diarrhea; God help us all

Update:  the vet has diagnosed the cat with a case of clostridium. He has been given a shot of penicillin, and I get to give him amoxicillin for a week.  They took blood and are sending it off for testing to rule out any other causes as well.  Here's hoping this works and there's nothing else...

Chronic diarrhea; God help us all

Yeah, I had him on probiotics on the vet's recommendation but because there was no effect I didn't buy more when the vet's supply ran out.  Eventually I bought a jar of the stuff at the local pet store, again to no effect, so I stopped out of sheer laziness.  Now I've put him back on them.  To...

Chronic diarrhea; God help us all

Thanks for all the replies and suggestions!  I'll definitely ask the vet to look for T. foetus when we go, and will perhaps also try to slowly reintroduce the raw.  When he responded so well to it months ago I also figured he must be allergic to something in the other foods.  To answer...

Chronic diarrhea; God help us all

Sorry for the graphic thread name, but I am losing my mind over here.  The shortest possible version of the story: I took the cat in for a dental cleaning about six months ago.  He was fine that night, then the next day fell into an insane spiral of poor health.  He started hiding under the bed...
