I need ideas on how to "hide three medications" to give to my cat!

We've had good luck with bacon flavored pill wrap. We use the Vetoquinol brand, but I've seen others. It's a putty that can be wrapped around the pill. Our cats eat their pills like treats now. Unfortunately, I usually have to order it from Chewy or another site since most pet stores don't carry it.

16 yr old cat - sudden temporary hind leg paralysis

I'm so sorry to hear about your kitty. My cat Dillard was diagnosed with a slipped/herniated disk almost exactly a year ago, although he could still move his legs. For him, only his tail was affected, although he was in extreme pain. I second the recommendation to see a specialist. We spent...

My cat keeps licking his back and feet

I've read that some cats lick certain areas due to pain. My cat developed back issues over the past year and I've noticed that he's started to lick his back more, although I could just be noticing it more now.

    Worried about upcoming dental cleaning

I just want to thank you both for replying and reassuring me. I watched some vet videos about anesthesia and those made me feel so much better. I also talked to my vet to make sure there was someone dedicated to monitoring my cat and that really helped, too. Dillard is back from his dental and...

    Worried about upcoming dental cleaning

Hi everyone, not sure if this is a heath question as much as me just looking for reassurance about my cat's upcoming dental cleaning. My 9-year-old cat has a cleaning on Friday. His vet said he has some gingivitis, but couldn't see anything obvious going on from his last annual exam. I still...

Any experience with herniated discs in cats?

That's so helpful to hear! We've been trying to restrict him from jumping but it's been really hard. He was on cosequin before so I'll have to ask our vet about starting him on it again. I'm really thankful to hear your experiences with it because I couldn't find much about cats with IVDD or...

Any experience with herniated discs in cats?

Thanks for asking, and that's really reassuring to hear! He's doing much better. He just finished his month of bed rest and was such a trooper through the whole thing. He doesn't seem to be in much pain anymore, but I do notice that his back will ripple a little here and there, which seems like...

Any experience with herniated discs in cats?

Thanks for the input and kind thoughts. I'm glad to hear your kitty recovered quickly. I do think he'd like a heated bed. I should have mentioned that he's on gabapentin but the vet said steroids are not needed right now unless he gets worse. We have him in a small bedroom and he's been...

Any experience with herniated discs in cats?

Hi everyone, just wondering if anyone on the board has had a cat with a herniated disc. My cat was experiencing pain and a limp tail. After several vet visits and finally an MRI, the neurologist says he has a bulging disc (when I asked, they said this was the same as a herniated/ruptured disc)...

    Cat Injured Tail, Not Healing

Again, I want to thank everyone for responding. We took Dillard to the neurologist today and they did an MRI. It turns out he has a bulging/herniated disc. The vet is hopeful it will heal with bed rest and that he won't need surgery. However, it sounds like even if the 4 weeks of rest are...

    Cat Injured Tail, Not Healing

Thank you for sharing your experience, it makes me feel better. We went back to the vet today and they believe it's a slipped disc. They suggested crate rest, which will be good for him. He's too adventurous and I do think between moving around and straining, he probably exacerbated the injury...

    Cat Injured Tail, Not Healing

I want to thank everyone for responding. I've been so distraught over the past 24 hours, but all of your advice and kind words have really helped me. Last night, Dillard wouldn't eat and was still having trouble with his bowel movements. Despite pain meds, I could tell he was feeling awful. He...

    Cat Injured Tail, Not Healing

Thank you for the good vibes 🙂 There's no pronounced bump in his tail, but I do think it's hurting around the same area, if not a little more towards the base of his tail. It's so reassuring to hear that your kitty healed well. I went to the vet today and they prescribed him some additional...

    Cat Injured Tail, Not Healing

Thank you both. I know the neurologist is part of an emergency practice so I will call them and see if an emergency or faster appointment is possible. I agree that another general ER vet would probably not be helpful beyond focusing on the acute pain.

    Cat Injured Tail, Not Healing

Not sure how to edit the post, but I can't believe I forgot to mention that the injury seems to be at the base of his tail where it meets his back.
