My cat does this, too! I finally got a video of her gagging and showed the vet and they weren't really sure about it. They think she has a mild case of asthma - her breathing sounded good, x-rays and bloodwork showed very mild inflammation. Otherwise, she is totally fine, so it's a total mystery...
