I actually think it would look great to have just one small diamond on the bottom point (on the top one it wouldn't be noticeable enough because of the hardware).

I have tried this. It works really well, picked up all the hair on the couch. However, once the reservoir is full, you have to throw it away. You can't just empty it and put it back together, unfortunately.
