One of mine returned after being gone for 3 months last summer ... keep the faith!

    Morris is wounded

One of our feral guys was wounded during the summer.  There was a big chunk bitten out of the area where his tail meets his body.  We didn't take him to the vet, but we asked what we could do to help it heal.  The vet recommended Neosporin to keep it from getting infected.  I didn't have much...

    Need vibes for Hercules

Keep the faith!  One of our guys disappeared for two months this past summer.  Then one evening he strolled into the backyard like nothing happened.  And he wasn't even hungry!

    Somewhat new Daddy!

Bless you for taking care of all the cats.  We've been caring for 5 ferals for 5 years now.  When it gets cold enough, they'll use those shelters!  I would like to suggest one way to help them greatly is to find a low cost spay/neuter clinic or vet, or your cat family will continue to grow...

    feral cat shelters and raccoons

Hi -- we have raccoon issues, but keeping our cat shelter elevated (it's up on a stand about a foot or so) which seems to help.  Also, NEVER put food in the shelter.  That should keep them away, too.  We have never had a raccoon in our shelter.  We've had it up for 4 years now.  Give it a try!

Feral with hurt leg, no money for vet, what to do?

We've been spotting a limping cat in the neighborhood for around 3-4 months now.  It's rear leg was stiff.  The limp is now less pronounced, and this cat can run, jump. chase things with the best of 'em.  Hopefully your little kitty will heal on its own.  One of our ferals suffered a dislocated...

A Cat Showed up and I'm Clueless...

The best option is if you will take it to the vet!  Our cats had fleas most of the summer.  One developed an allergy.  He is on half of a 25 mg pill of Benadryl, twice a day.  Just make sure you buy the basic, original Benadryl.  Also a once/month application of Frontline II for cats or...

    TNR 2nd time

Wow --you have a lot going on!  Our feral family is 5 years old.  A new stray/feral recently tried to join our group.  We allowed it, fed it and he turned out to be very mean, constantly picking fights.  Two of our males have bites and one's tail is just limp & hanging.  From what I've read...

    TNR 2nd time

Hi -- I see you are from Cleveland too!  I used the APL to TNR our small family of ferals five years ago.  We will be visiting again soon to drop off a stray injured cat who's been coming around as soon as we can coordinate trapping it.  I think the APL is wonderful -- they've always been there...

Limping Cat is now a terrorist toward the other ferals ... Advice please!

Thank you for your responses -- all this has been really bothering my hubby & I.  We already handed out flyers, posted a "found cat" ad in a few of the local papers, but no responses.  Our local animal protective league is wonderful.  I'm not convinced that this cat is feral, but if we take it...

Limping Cat is now a terrorist toward the other ferals ... Advice please!

Hi everyone, I truly don't know what to do. I hope some of you feral caregivers have experienced this before!  We've been feeding & caring for a feral mom & her 4 cats for 5 years now.  We built a heated house for them, and they want for nothing.  About 6 months ago we noticed a limping cat in...

    Little Cow is gone

Just wanted to share some fantastic news.  I posted in this thread over a week ago about my feral, Smokey, being missing for now 8 weeks.  He came home last night!!!!!!   We are thrilled!  I just want to give you all some hope.  He is in great shape, no bruises, doesn't look hungry.  We think...

    Little Cow is gone

Oh I'm so glad to read this thread.  It's given me hope that my one of my ferals will return.  I've been feeding a mom and her 4 cats for 5 years now.  They wander the neighborhood (residential, but with woods in the backyards).  This little guy, Smokey, hangs around more than the others. ...

4 ferals kittens and their mom!

Wow, it sounds to me like you've made great progress with these guys!  I couldn't just leave that last kitten out there either -- I'm so glad you were finally able to trap it.    I've heard that you can tame ferals who are already adults, it just takes a lot longer and lots of patience which it...
