    Urine on Fur

Just brought Lola back from the vet, and on the way home she must have urinated. The towel in her carrier is wet and a big part of her fur is soaked in it. What's the best way to clean her up? I've tried to dry her up with a towel as much as possible. She's not a very cooperative cat when it...

    Chattering at Birds

Now that the birds have returend to the patio outside my apartment, Lola sits by the sliding glass door all day and watches them. She also makes a whole range of noises from little squeaks to kind of a talking/chattering noise. What is this? I don't mind, in fact, it's really cute. But I...

    Feeding to lose weight

Hi - I'm looking for suggestions. At Lola's last visit 6 months ago, the Vet said she could stand to lose about a pound (she's at 11# right now). He said I didn't need to make any big changes - just cut back on her food about 5%. I leave out dry food all the time, and used to give her 1/3 -...

    Anyone else use timeout?

Thanks for your suggestions. I'll keep working on them, but I've tried absolutely everything I've read on theses boards, and nothing works. I've spent a ton of money buying her all kinds of different scratching items and surfaces and made sure they're sturdy, etc. She completely ignores every...

    Anyone else use timeout?

I have had so much trouble getting my cat Lola to not scratch the couch. I've gotten her every possible kind of scratching item, and she's just not interested. I got her soft paws, but those only stayed on for a few days. I was squirting her with water, but she seemed to think it was a game...

    Making weird noises

Yo're right, RaKKa, it does have sort of a chattering sound to it. I've never heard a cat do that before, and it really amuses me when she does, which has been pretty much all the time recently. Then she sees me watching and almost seems embarassed that I caught her SO INTO her birds!

    Making weird noises

My cat has started making strange noises when she looks out the window. She'll sit for hours watching the birds on the patio while making little sqeauking, chirping noises. It seems like she's so excited about the birds that she can't help herself. Does anyone know why she might be doing...

    Soft Paws

I've tried everything to get Lola to stop scratching the furniture, and clipping her claws doesn't help either. I took her in to get Soft Paws this morning, and she seems to love them! She's prancing around like Miss Thing and stretching out her paws to admire them. I hope this means she...

    Soft Paws?

Well, I've tried everything to get Lola to not scratch the couch - bought all the stuff, tried all the suggestions, etc. A friend took his cat to a groomer and had Soft Paws put on. Has anyone else tried these? What do you think?

    Cat hates being held!

Thanks, everyone. I think she's starting to trust me more. She comes and sits near me wherever I am and curls up next to me on the bed at night. It's good to know that there are just some cats that don't like to be held, and it's not something I'm doing wrong with her.

    Cat hates being held!

One point I could clarify - the only time she actually seems to like being picked up is when I first come home. She greets me at the door and she'll let me pick her up and nuzzle her tummy and she licks my face.

    Cat hates being held!

Lola is about two years old and I've had her for a few months. She's a great cat, but hates being held. You can pick her up and she's OK for a few seconds, but then claws and scratches her way out. If you continue to hold her firmly but gently and talk to her softly, she'll stay there, but...
