Thanks very much!
It turns out that my local pet supply store doesn't carry Nutro so I'll look for it the next time I'm at Petco.
I bought her some more Wellness chicken along with a few fish flavors for variety. I also decided to try Merrick duck again.
I just gave her some Wellness salmon...
Thank you so much, everyone!
I'm sorry - I should clarify. When I said that I was trying to limit her food, I meant limit her calories. I've found the catinfo.org link very helpful in the past. We shoot for 200 calories a day, although sometimes I go under that with wet food that so she can...
My cat is 9 1/2 years old.. She is overweight at 12 pounds. The vet would like her to be 10 pounds. I have been trying to limit her food, but she seems to be plateauing at 12 pounds.
In the meantime, she is getting pickier and pickier about what she eats. She does best with pate style...
I need to bring my kitty to the vet to have her nails trimmed, which is about $19 a visit. I thought they had said that coming in every 2 months was frequent enough, but now I'm reading that it should be more than that. I usually know it's time when she starts scratching in appropriate...
I'm so sorry for the loss of your other kitty. :(
I'm not sure what's causing my cat's anxiety. Last night was brutal, even after leaving the light on for her. I know I need to ignore her but that's so hard to do.
Thank you, Anne. Those are helpful links! She seems to see fine during the day, but maybe there's something going on with her night vision. I'll ask the vet about that. Last night I kep a light on for her, but it didn't seem to help. I'll try a different one tonight.
In case she's getting...
My kitty is 9 years old and I've had her for 7 years. In almost all that time, she has been great about being quiet through the night. She used to curl up at my feet once the lights went out and stayed there until it was time for breakfast.
Lately, she has started a meow-fest when the lights...
My 8 year old kitty had her annual wellness exam today. The vet has been wanting her to lose weight and I was worried because she has plateaued at 11.5-12 pounds for about a year. Her target is 10 pounds.
She used to eat Wellness canned food happily, but started to shun it around...
I just switched my cat to a new food and tried doing it gradually by mixing the two, as I've always read that's the better way to do it. But it turned out that she didn't like the food mixed and was fine when I gave her the new food on its own. But I did this very slowly to see how she'd react...
I'm now just learning about freeze-dried raw - it almost seems like dry food. Is that right? My reason for wanting to keep some dry on hand is that I can have it out for kitty if I'm going to be out longer than I expect. Like today was a holiday, so I made sure she had wet food when I left for...
Maybe she just doesn't like old food and new food mixed together. I know that's how you're supposed to transition to avoid tummy upset, but maybe she's just different. :)
Thanks so much everyone!
I'm happy to report some progress this morning. She tried NV venison (canned) for her bedtime snack and she loved it! About an hour later, she has this burst of playfulness I haven't seen in a couple or weeks, chasing a toy mousie up and down the hall. So relieved!
Happy adoptaversary to you and Gus!
My kitty wakes me by either pressing her nose to my nose or swatting me on the nose with her paw. But she sleeps peacefully at my feet most of the night. I really can't sleep without her there.
Thanks! I bought her some with the regular kibble and the boost pieces mixed together. She really likes it and eats all the boost pieces first. I just wish I could get her back to eating more canned.
