Fostering 4 kittens and their mom - turns out they have ringworm. Ack! Best course of action? How to

Hi all, I recently started fostering a new litter of kittens and their mama, Fern. I love fostering and I know that it comes with risks to my residents, but that is something I have come to terms with.  However, it became apparent recently that many of the 25 kittens transferred in the same...

Former best friend suddenly very aggressive

Thank you so much for the link! I'm a little confused reading that thread, is there some kind of guide I could follow knowing that redirected aggression is the issue?

Former best friend suddenly very aggressive

Hello everyone, I have two cats, Max (a 2 y/o neutered male) and Frankie (a 4 y/o spayed female) and I live in a town house with an enclosed back yard. On sunny days, I like to let them both out into the yard to enjoy catching some rays. Yesterday, I was in the yard with them, just conducting...

My darling Frankie's tail is unresponsive

I certainly hope that's not the case, as it seems like there isn't really anything to be done for that and outlook is bleak. Today Frankie seems to be a little more comfortable - in no small part I think because of the pain meds & is much more happy, but the tail doesn't really seem to be...

My darling Frankie's tail is unresponsive

Hi everyone -  My cat, Frankie (age approx. 4, but unknown/shelter kitty) woke me up this morning with a completely limp tail. She was in obvious pain and clearly something was very wrong - her normally larger than life beautiful fluffy tail was hanging completely to the ground. I called the...

Strange aggressive behavior from older cat

A little update: The cats seemed to be getting along better...but then this morning Frankie bit Max while he was eating, and wouldn't let him near the food! It seems like the biggest problem we're having is that Sosa likes to come into Frankie and Max's "area" at night to eat their food...seems...

Strange aggressive behavior from older cat

Thanks so much for your responses, I really appreciate it as I've just been so stressed out about poor nervous Max. Although, I must admit I am relieved to hear that this is something that someone else has heard of as a behavioral problem and isn't just that Frankie is confused between the two...

Strange aggressive behavior from older cat

I have two cats, Maxwell and Frankie who are a 1.5 y/o neutered male and a 7 y/o spayed female, respectively. One of the women I live with  ended up with her mother's cat about three weeks ago, because her mom was going to send the cat, named Sosa, to the kill-shelter. My two cats are dealing...

7 month old cat panting from apparent heat - what to do?

We do have air conditioning, but we try to keep it turned off. I just checked the thermostat, and it's at 78 degrees not 80, though that doesn't seem like much of a difference. I got a washcloth and got Max all wet with cool water, which he seemed to tolerate pretty well, and he's not panting...

7 month old cat panting from apparent heat - what to do?

My little cat Max is 7 months old and about thave his first midwest summer. In the past three days or so, we've caught him a few times panting. The temperature and humidity where I live have been steadily rising during this time. However, it hasn't been THAT hot, and he's doing it right now even...

Possibly future health issues re: declawed

I adopted my cat Frankie about a year ago, and I adopted her already declawed. I have seen a few mentions of increased likelihood of arthritis and other issues in declawed cats, and I was wondering if there is any kind of preventative care (i.e. vitamins or other) that I can do now to head off...

Newly adopted teenage cat seems to not understand litterbox

I talked to my vet about this issue, and she said she would be okay with giving him his vaccinations/dewormer/microchip during the same visit...should I be concerned about this being a safety issue? She seemed very okay with the whole thing.  As for the litter problem, I think I'm going to move...
