Even orange juice? Our kitten is disgusted by anything citrus.

Cats are mounting kittens and my neighbors are breeders - correlation?

I know my friend's neutered male has  a special 'friend', a stuffed Mr Snuffleupagus (from sesame street) that he has his way with  quite often. I guess he does it because it's enjoyable. Could the kitten be playing the same roll? Doesn't sound like it's dominance to me if they're getting along...

Really worried about kitten. Can you help me identify if this is a tom cat? (video)

That's what I was afraid of!  I live in southern hemisphere so maybe it's not prime mating season here?  I have an appointment with the vet, he said so long as she's 5 months he can do the operation. It's a housemates cat but I'm looking after its welfare unfortunately. No one is exactly sure...

Really worried about kitten. Can you help me identify if this is a tom cat? (video)

Here's mouzer doing her grooming. I can only distract her for 10-20 seconds at most. Atm she's in her travel crate licking away :(

Really worried about kitten. Can you help me identify if this is a tom cat? (video)

So I got some surveillance footage on a cat that's been in our backyard a fair bit. I assumed it and Mouzer were friends, since she doesn't try and escape or act scared. It also looked like a female to me when I saw it up close. Here's the footage -  Is this a tom (male) cat? And could his...

To treat or not to treat

I feed our kitten unsalted ham as a treat and she loves it. It's also a great way to get her inside if she's escaped, or to use as a reward...as soon as she hears the plastic wrapping she comes running. Will probably look into some proper cat treats eventually.

    indoor or outdoor kitty?????whats best!!

I guess we all have to make the choice based on our own circumstances and values.  In most places cats are definitely going to be exposed to more danger if let outside. There's always a chance of them getting run over or attacked by other animals/people - just because you've had cats all your...

Kitten won't stop biting (no he's climbing up our legs) and it really, really hurts

I'm a massive cat newbie but one thing I've picked up is that each cat can be very individual, with it's own set of quirks and positive/negative qualities.  With our kitten I just got everyone yelling 'owch!' whenever she sunk her teeth in, and then ignore her/stop playing with her after that...

Introducing kitten to the outside world.

That's amazing and kind of frightening too. Wouldn't it be dangerous for such a young cat to go through a pregnancy?  No big cats become fertile that early I didn't think. I need to do some more research on cats. Did they come from a common ancestor like the ocelot or something?

Introducing kitten to the outside world.

I share a house. The other housemates got a kitten. They've had cats their entire lives and won't be told how to care for it. Very difficult thing to approach when two very different values and it being their 'property' I'm a huge fan of animals and can't live comfortably in a house where...

Introducing kitten to the outside world.

Best option is stopping her from going outside I agree. My cat physiology knowledge is poor so I thought taking the mystery away from 'ze OUTSIDE' would make her less escapable. You guys know more than me, so won't be doing that again! Other people living in this house are incapable of keeping...

    Giving buprenex under the tongue?

That's good to hear. Was picturing trying to get a cat to take a dose of liquid under their tongue and hold it there  Just out of interest how much buperenex did your cats get prescibed per dose? (OP, or anyone else who has had experience with it) I remember reading somewhere that they...

    Giving buprenex under the tongue?

This one is definitely not as effective if swallowed.  IMO - Just do the best you can and don't be too pedantic about getting it exactly under the tongue. Around the side of the tongue, or almost anywhere in the mouth (so long as it isn't instantly swallowed) is going to be better than...

Introducing kitten to the outside world.

Not yet. Her owner doesn't believe in it. So I will sneak her off to the vet when he's out of town.  Hrmm that's interesting...even a young kitten would be discouraged from roaming? I didn't think she had gone through puberty yet, and didn't think sex or hormones would be a factor yet.

Introducing kitten to the outside world.

Ok so from the advice I've gotten here ended up installing screens on all windows.  The backyard I thought was kitten proof but last night I got a funny feeling, went out the back, and up on the roof is mouzer gazing down at me. People always forget to close the backdoor, or mouzer sneaks out...
