My answers and clarifications:
- Max doesn't actually knock the water bowl over...he just splashes the water out of the bowl.
- Yes, the water bowl is not near enough to the food bowl, so the food stays dry.
- I will now try and float a ping-pong...
Yes, one of my two cats also drops many of his toys into his water bowl.
This is the same cat that also likes to paw/knock water out of his bowl (see my other thread) - so that depth perception idea mentioned earlier seems to have some credibility for those of us looking for scientific answers...

Well, yes he was born with that very short tail. The Pixie-Bob is bred to have a short tail, part of the "Bobcat" look from which they derive their name. Boomer's tail is on the long side (6 inches), whereas Max's tail is more normal - about 1.5 inches...
