    Good Dematting Tool??

So I received the 4 Paws dematting tool and it's not the greatest for tough mats but what I notice is how a great a tool it is for grooming in general. The toughest mats will have to be cut out, but I notice that often when I comb gently through my cat's hair the tool will pick up a matt here...

    Good Dematting Tool??

I just purchased the 4 Paws Dematting tool, the one posted earlier in this thread.  I hope it works.  My 2 year old cat just recently started getting matts. At first it was just one, and I cut that off with scissors. But now she has them everywhere.  I've considered buying a cordless shaver...

Mother cat hissing at daughter after being spayed.

I'm sticking by the theory that a cat hisses at the returning cat because the latter cat smells like a cat in heat, a scent that probably rubs off pretty easy from the vet. So cat hisses and growls because -- she doesn't want to get raped!

My spayed cat yowls at night

Thanks for the threads.  I'm convinced I understand now why my cat does what she does. When she sneaks down from her tree after I've turned in, what's she's doing with the soft quiet yowling is having her own little playtime because in fact there are toys involved. So why does she do it when...

My spayed cat yowls at night

Yes, I forget. The meowing that Chloe does is the same she does, every now and then, when she's walking around with a toy in her mouth. It's a soft-spoken and slow yowl.  But I don't get why my cat times this behavior to me going to sleep. It's annoying. It only started happening regularly 2...

My spayed cat yowls at night

...And she only does it when I've turned in for the night and lay in bed... It doesn't matter what time it is. If I haven't turned in and set into my bed she won't yowl. But minutes after I've done so (when I start to fall asleep) she'll climb down from her cat tree, and then she'll start...

Dear anyone with an "Indoors Only" cat.

Sure cats will like being outdoors better, but they're also in a loving home and you owe it to yourself to keep them safe. Safe from: Traffic accidents. Parasites and worms from the insects and rodents they hunt and eat. Fleas. Other cats. Dogs. Beavers. Racoons. Etc. = Happier YOU. No doctor...

The Single Best Cat Grooming Tool is...

It took me a year of owning cats to realize this, but the answer is: An ordinary hair comb. It's the best. It's precise and deliberate, it's gentle, and it picks up a lot of LOOSE fur without pulling out fur that isn't loose. And they're easy to clean out and reset when they are full of fur...

How much do you spend on your cat every month? (Food/Litter/Treats, etc)

2 cats that I keep indoors... They are fed wet food in the morning, treats throoughtout, and dry food in the evening. One can = 50cents. 2 bags of Wold's Best litter lasts a month = 14.00. ~ 2 bags of dry food = 10.00-14.00. A bag of treats or cat milk here or there = 5-10 dollars. So...

Mother cat hissing at daughter after Spay

My cats now are about 95% back to normal, and I have even seen them groom each other and sleep on the same bed - my bed. (Although -- I subtract 5% because I did hear Chloe growl again at some point during that grooming). For cats that know each other and are not fighters, I don't recommend...

Mother cat hissing at daughter after Spay

The mother cat was fixd in December. The daughter cat has no idea of what's going on and doesn't know the mother cat currently hates her so much. But my fear is that the kitten will try nestle and groom her mother and get her eyeballs clawed out.  This is why I asked for a few days off to...

Mother cat hissing at daughter after Spay

Maybe the mother cat knows its her daughter but that's not what the problem is. Is it possible my kitten has acquired some sort of cat virus and the mother cat senses it and doesn't want to be near the infection? What's really new to me is that my cat not only hisses but she growls like a...

Mother cat hissing at daughter after Spay

I've taken a wet soggy cat toy used by the mother and rubbed it all over the daughter's face. But that's not working. I will try the towel trick next. What's really sad is that the mother doesn't want to stay anymore and for the first time in over 8 months, she's hanging by the door and meowing...
