Bless you for taking in a kitten that needed time to adjust. And I agree with the others, althought I've never experienced this behavior with a kitten, it does sound like a way of comforting herself. And especially if she has warmed up to you, showing & accepting affection, I wouldn't worry...
Hi Mute Kitty....I too once had a Mute Kitty. However, I got this cat when she was about 10 mos. old. But, she never meowed. She would open her mouth and a little squeek would come out, and that's it.
BUT, the only time we would hear her actually meow was if you accidentally stepped on her...
I have two cats, 9 1/2 old, brother & sister. Coalbe is the male and is the major theif of the two of them. He steals sponges, cat toys from my sister-in-law's appt downstairs, gloves, socks, and yes, the all mighty Q-tip. (She says they are part ferrit)!!!
