Having severe cat trouble....about to give up and shelter him. Please help.

Nova is doing very well. We received a video a few days ago of him exploring his new backyard, and being super cute and curious of his new surroundings. He doesn't look scared at all, more curious if anything. He seems really happy.

Having severe cat trouble....about to give up and shelter him. Please help.

We just got an update on Nova, he is doing well. They let him out and roam around the backyard and according to the email - "He seems very content and happy." They also sent a picture of him being held and he seems to have no problem with it. Here is a before and after picture of Nova. The...

Having severe cat trouble....about to give up and shelter him. Please help.

Hey guys, some good news and bad news. Bad news is, we've decided to give him to a new home and have just returned from handing him off to someone else who will transition him to being an outdoor cat. Good news, I think he's really going to be happy. As soon as we took him out of his carrier...

Having severe cat trouble....about to give up and shelter him. Please help.

@catwoman707  : We're gonna give the cannabis a try right now, small amount just to see if he calms down. We're hoping that he'll get put with a patient new owner who will take time with him to work around his anxiety issues and take everything really slow with him. Since he'll be on a farm, he...

Having severe cat trouble....about to give up and shelter him. Please help.

@catwoman707   Things are pretty much the same. We're still keeping him in the bathroom. He has about 3-4 accidents a day, and still lays in them. We check on him every 30 minutes to an hour, sometimes more depending on how busy we get. We've actually gotten in touch with someone interested in...

Having severe cat trouble....about to give up and shelter him. Please help.

Since we keep getting messages about trying Prozac, we may give it a shot if we can get in touch with the vet this week. Nova has begun getting aggressive over the last few days, as well. He's hissing and batting/scratching at us. I wish I could understand what he was thinking. :[  His current...

Having severe cat trouble....about to give up and shelter him. Please help.

@catwoman707   : Yeah, we don't think he'd last very long as an outdoor cat, seeing as he's terrified of everything. He'd probably end up starving.  We're going to continue doing his medication for a week, and if it shows no improvement we'll double the dose and try for another week. We're...

Having severe cat trouble....about to give up and shelter him. Please help.

Hey guys. Saw the behaviorist. He gave us a lot of helpful information, but ultimately concluded that it's most likely Nova is suffering from some sort of neurological disorder that's causing him to act like this - possibly coming from a trauma as a kitten. He suggested a few things, like new...

Having severe cat trouble....about to give up and shelter him. Please help.

We called the vet and she gave us a prescription for Buspar, which is one of the 3 I was hoping for.  @flowerdew   :  I've heard about the calming collars, I'll have to look into one. We've actively tried to find something for Nova to attach to in a sort of calming way, but every single...

Having severe cat trouble....about to give up and shelter him. Please help.

He hides sometimes, usually only when he's extremely stressed though. He'll run downstairs and hide under the table or couch. Most of the time he spends his day laying as far back in a corner as he can get. I've been thinking about pain as well, since he shows a few symptoms of a cat in pain...

Having severe cat trouble....about to give up and shelter him. Please help.

@lilanimaluvr  : Thanks for the suggestion! We'll talk about Prozac with the vet today. We do let him in the backyard sometimes, but we have to physically carry him around the house if we want him to move and I think it stresses him out.  @Reba  : I totally agree, I just figured we'd listen to...

Having severe cat trouble....about to give up and shelter him. Please help.

We've decided to keep him out of the bathroom, despite his frequent accidents. He seems to be degrading a lot faster when he's locked up, every time we would check on him his breathing would be extremely fast and he just sat in his litterbox the entire time - even after using it. He went 3 days...
