I am not really sure what I am doing - trying to reply to Petnurse to say thanks for the advice and now I really think the poor thing has a bad case of ear mites. Is there anything I can do about it until I can get it to the vet? Any home remedies that would be safe?

I have been taking care of a stray cat for a couple of weeks. It has nasty sores behind both ears. I thought they were injuries but now not so sure... may be some kind of skin condition. How can I tell?
