I've used KFC but since he doesn't really come around to eat anymore I haven't had a chance to see if it works. He seems to prefer cat food. The one time he fully entered the trap was when it was baited with canned food warmed in the microwave.
I do keep fried chicken in the house just in case...
I might just have to try following him and see if I spot any feeding stations. That's a good suggestion. I'm sure that someone is feeding him, just need to locate that person and talk to them.
Hi all, so I'm back and looking for advice. As some of you know, I've been attempting to catch a hard to trap feral/semi-feral cat who is injured.
Things are not looking good right now. The wound is looking smaller, but his fur is matted and he is now missing hair in some places.
It feels like...
I actually have some experience with this. Last summer I took in a pregnant friendly stray and had her set up in her own room away from my two cats.
My first question is have you tried to locate an owner? If you know of any local lost pet social media pages you can start there, or post fliers...
This will be my final update for now, at least until he's either trapped or starts coming back consistently.
He seems to have completely stopped visiting us for food, but he's passed through once or twice.
A few nights ago, I was sitting out on my front porch and was surprised to see him...
This is kind of a disappointing update. He hasn't been showing up much lately. The shelter is only open 4 days a week and the couple times I have seen him have been on days when they are closed.
I thought maybe the trap was deterring him so I've been leaving it unset with the food left toward...
I have a bonded pair of siblings who were also very shy when they were kittens. For the first week or so they would hide under the couch whenever they saw us.
You might want to consider putting them in a "safe room" with a door and very little foot traffic so they can get used to their new...
I wouldn't be overly concerned about the bowls transmitting rabies. I've forgotten to take my dry food in once or twice overnight and the skunks and raccoons did get to it. What I usually do is soak my bowls in soapy water for a few hours, rinse them, and put them in the dishwasher.
If you...
Okay so I've considered everyone's advice. Here's the plan as of right now.
My Tomahawk Gravity Trap was delivered today so I'll be using that in place of the Countyline brand. I expect to have the cat sometime next week.
As soon as he's been trapped, I'm going to contact the cat rescue and...
