Have you ever heard a 1 day old kitten hiss at you? One of mine has hissed about 4 times now. What makes them do that? I thought the mother taught them to hiss later. Are they born with the instinct to hiss? Is he hissing because he is scared?

I am going to weigh them in an hour or so.

It is around 80 degrees here, they should be warm enough. The garage that they are in has only boxes in it. No cleaning supplies, anit freeze, etc. One started licking my hand. I guess it was looking for a nipple. Luckly my hands were washed and clean at the time.

I only saw one on one of the kittens but I imagine the mom has a lot of them. Her hair is so thick and black it is hard to see any fleas.
