    Milking a cat???

Well 2 of her teats are very full with milk but the kittens don't really want to drink. It's my friends cat and she said that she read online that the nipples can become infected if the milk is not drank. She asked my advice but I also had not heard of this.

    Milking a cat???

Is it possible to 'milk' a cat? The kittens have stopped drinking the milk but mother is still producing milk and I know it can be a problem if she doesn't release the milk. Is there anyway to do this?

    Infected nipples.....

Thanks, this is what I thought. I have a feeling that (unfortunately) this vet is only saying to come in every day for the money he is making!

    Infected nipples.....

My friends mother cat has a very badly infected nipple. The vet says it's most likely come from the kittens biting or scratching at her too hard. It's very black right now and has turned into some kind of abcess under the skin. The bad 'puss' stuff seems to be coming out now but quite slowly...

HELP! I know nothing about raising kittens/cats and now i have 6 of them

Bringing them into the kitchen is a good idea but only if this doesn't seperate them from the mother at this stage. They are still a little bit young to be away from her and won't have learnt everything from her. Also, they will be frightened if they are not used to humans yet so they will be...

Trying to introduce my orphaned kittens to a new mother.

Thanks, I'm so glad everything worked out! I have bought some whiskers kitten pouches for mom, as it says it is a good source for a nursing mother, to go along with her regular food.

HELP! I know nothing about raising kittens/cats and now i have 6 of them

Treats are always a good idea. Also try spending time with mom where they can see as they will understand that you are not a threat and will learn from their mother that they should come to you. If you and mom are close enough they will slowly start to come towards you as they see that mom is...

Trying to introduce my orphaned kittens to a new mother.

It worked! She accepted them! We put the mother in a different room and then put my kittens in the box with hers. The other kittens started licking and smelling mine and they all seemed fine together. After about 15 minutes we let the mother back in with the kittens. First she was smelling the...

HELP! I know nothing about raising kittens/cats and now i have 6 of them

I think you're doing great. The only thing now is to socialize them. Once they are familiar with you and have a bond they will be fine to find new homes. And that's really good about the litter box! Sometimes they can eat the litter when they are this small so just keep your eye out for that...

HELP! I know nothing about raising kittens/cats and now i have 6 of them

How old are the kittens? Because if they are still very young most of the caring you can leave to the mother. She won't need much help from you other than providing her with plenty of food and water for her so she can produce enough milk for them. They won't follow her everywhere and if there is...

PLEASE HELP! NEED ADVİCE ABOUT 5 2 WEEK OLD STRAY KITTENS!

My friend has a mother cat that has got 3 kittens that are just under 4 weeks old. We have been reading online that it is possible to introduce my orphaned kittens to her and she is likely to accept them, so we will try this today. This really would be so great as these kittens really need a...

PLEASE HELP! NEED ADVİCE ABOUT 5 2 WEEK OLD STRAY KITTENS!

I gave them some of the wet kitten food I have (the pouches rather than from a can) and mixed with some water and mashed it up slightly. They were licking and trying to chew some of the pieces and then I filled them up with the milk mix from the bottle. This seemed to be okay. I let them walk...
