Problems With Ants at Feral Colonies

Since my two feral colonies are in an apt. complex,I have to be discreet with food bowls, etc. and I am having an ant problem. At the present time, I put water in the bottom of shallow containers, and then put the food bowls in the containers. However, in Arizona the water evaporates and ants...

    Micro chips

All of my animals are chipped; all are indoors. It is a onetime fee. When an animal is "dropped off" at our vet clinic: we always scan to see if the cat or dog has a chip. At my no-kill animal shelter where I volunteer, we scan and chip all animals.

    Overweight Cats

Two of my six cats are over weight. They are all "free-feeders". My remaining four cats like to nibble but are not over weight. My vet said to feed them "light Iams Furball" dry food. Are there a lot of fillers in "light" diets? and what about nutrients? Opinions of "light" and Furrball"...

    stressd out kitty

I put a drop or two of Rescue Remedy in the water bowls. There are some other Bach Flower essences that can be used too. I think the vanilla extract idea is a good thing to try.

Behavioral Problems with my Jesse James

Jesse James was found as a kitten emeshed in cacti; was treated at an emergency clinic; had two eye surgeries to remove cacti spines. I adopted him. He is my dominant neutered male cat in a household of one dog, five permanent cats & two fosters. He has always been Mommy's boy; likes to spend...

    Playing or Fighting?

Kitty wrestling/biting/etc. is normal kitten behavior. I like to get kittens in pairs so they can duke it out together. My two fosters are about the same age and the smaller one sweaks a lot when wrestling; but he loves the scraping and always comes back for more.

    stressd out kitty

I am having similar problems with my dominant neutered male; he hates my fosters and my Feral cat. I am trying Bach Flower Remedy and Feliway(expensive). He may be telling me that he does not want more cats around. He especially resents other kitties sleeping in "his & Moms" bed. He will do...

On a List for A New Kitten

I would not expect any problems with the fact that your kitten will be female with two males. But read the information about how to introduce a new cat to old residents per Hissy.

    Fostering?

Mamma Cat: I foster kitties from my no-kill shelter where I volunteer; they pay for everything. As for introducing new kittens to your household, keep your fosters seperate from your cats; this is a requirement of my shelter. After I have their "health status", and know they are not...
