Adding a New Cat to House With Constipated Cat

I wasn't quite sure where to place this thread so I thought I'd put it here. I have been lurking since November/December when my kitty Xen was sick. A quick recap, our 5 year old cat Xen has problems passing stool because of a broken pelvis that healed incorrectly which puts pressure on his...

    New Here, Need Help!

It looks like little Xen is doing well ::knocks on wood:: he is drinking water again after a little talk from mom about why he had to drinking it (re: very constipated with megacolon) and he's taken all of his meds, eaten more food and had a good poop. I hope we can manage this with meds for a...

    Kitty Not Drinking Water

It is quite remarkable. Xen just started drinking water today after mommy had a long talk with him about why he had to drink water. So far I've only seen it once but I can tell from his water bowl. It looks like he is doing better overall. Thanks for all of the suggestions!

"The Final Word on Poinsettias" from ASPCA

I didn't know about the onion thing. I'll have to be more careful. Xenny likes to follow me around in the kitchen and is like a dog if I accidentally drop something. Thanks for the note on pointsettias!

    Alley is dying

I am so sorry for your little Alley. My heart goes out to you. She knows she is loved. Cats always know. She will be waiting for you at the end of the rainbow.

    Kitty Not Drinking Water

Omg! One of my cats growing up was named Bijou. I haven't met anyone else with a cat with that name. Good choice Thanks for the recommendation. I think we may try the fountain. He's turning his nose up at the bottled water.

    Kitty Not Drinking Water

I don't know if he likes running water. Our sinks are up really high and the only other running water he's been around is the occassional bath. I think it's possible. It's just odd that he used to drink a lot and then he just stopped, even before we switched to wet cat food. His vet knows about...

    New Here, Need Help!

Here is a picture of my Xenophon. He is just like a dog. My husband, who swore he would never love a cat, is now best buds.Xen is a big cat, not fat but tall and really strong. We will never have a problem with bugs or rodents with him in the house (other than Xen's brother guinea pig Mr...

    New Here, Need Help!

I moved to Philadelphia. There are a few places around here but I don't have a car so some of the smaller, no-kill shelters are in the suburbs. Thanks for the well wishes for the baby!

    Kitty Not Drinking Water

My kitty Xen, as posted earlier, has a problem with constipation. Though he is on laxatives and canned i/d, I can't get him to drink water to save his life...literally. The vet thinks increased water will help. I have tried her suggestions of adding a little tuna water, ice cubes, and low sodium...

Now I am 100% convinced cats understand

When I was volunteering at the humane society as the cat woman, my job was to match cats with the right homes. I would sit the cats down and ask them what type of family they wanted and I could tell what they needed. So when a family would come in and want a sweet and loving cat, I knew exactly...

    New Here, Need Help!

Just a little bit about me. I'm Beth and my husband and I adore our 4 year old tuxedo male, Xenophon, or Xen for short. He's been having some problems which I've posted on the health board. I have always been dedicated to helping cats. My favorite thing in the whole world was volunteering at...

Megacolon & Old Fractured Pelvis Advice!

I am the proud cat mommy of a 4 year old tuxedo little guy named Xenophon, or Xen. For my birthday, we adopted him from the local SPCA. We knew he had been an outdoor cat and had been surrendered because of, as we were told, an intestinal infection. We fell in love with him and he's been a...
