I really enjoyed The Cat Who Cried for Help by Nicholas Dodman. It really gave me some insight into some of my cat's strange behavior. 

Thanks for the welcome! That is funny you said that Shoshanna- that is probably as close as they have ever willingly got to each other lol. They just couldn't resist laying on that comfy coat. 

Maybe its a submissive thing? I have a cat who does the same thing, but its usually when he's being bad (and getting away with it). When I used to live in an apartment, he would periodically "run away", and I would follow him out into the hall where he would be laying on his side and dragging...

My male cat doesn't snort but he does make grunting noises. This is usually when I'm petting him and he's extra cozy.   He also flops down and sighs, snores, and growls at people outside! I have not ever seen him spit though. What kind of cat is he?
