I feel like I LIVE in a litterbox!

o.k., I have two spayed female cats. The younger one is a kitten from the older one's first litter. Both of them (but especially the younger one, Mika) pee all over my house. I'm fairly positive it is a behavioral issue, because I know exactly when it started. Chloe (the mom) had a second litter...

Is it necessary for the cat to eat the placenta?

Sounds just like my kitty... it's like their mother instincts kick in and they start grooming everything in sight I could feel Chloe's kittens moving like crazy for about a week before labor. Also, she never stopped eating. A lot of others on here told me their cats didn't stop eating either...

I don't know what to do...

Thanks again everybody... I'm feeling much better. I know that she's being well taken care of and receiving more one-on-one attention than we could give her with four cats. But you won't believe the response to my e-mail to the family (which I assure you was calm, rational, and unoffensive). The...

I don't know what to do...

Ah, it happened again. Thanks Yosemite, and I plan on doing everything you've suggested. I'll be fine once I've done everything I can to ensure her well-being. And I'm pouring extra love into the kitties I still have, which is making me feel better (and I'm sure they like their new bed, toys...

I don't know what to do...

LOL. I can't keep up with the replies (thanks everyone). Your kitty sounds sweet kluchetta. My bf got Chloe (the kittens' mom) at six weeks, and she's generally a good, loving, cat too. She's sucked the stuffing out of my boyfriend's favorite blanket, chews and claws at our hair while we're...

I don't know what to do...

Chupi, I did include that in my e-mail, but part of the reason my bf left her was because she was so good with the kids while he was there (apparently the little girl was brushing her with her doll brush, which the kitty loved). Since she's not having problems now, they probably don't believe me...

I don't know what to do...

Thanks Becki, and I'm sure you're right. I wish I knew the family a little better. They haven't impressed me with their stubbornness, but I've been assured that it's a loving family, with a safe, clean home, and good children. I suppose that I've been acting like he gave her away to drug addicts...

More help for my genetics lab

Thanks for the website! Her points do look like the picture of the lilac lynx point, but with darker nose and face. She actually looks a lot more like the picture of the Birman...darker, flatter face, thicker body, silky coat... and all the kitties have white boots. How pretty!

I don't know what to do...

I know... I'm much more calm than I was at first. It's just that it's been three days, and I've now left a phone message and sent an e-mail, both of which have been ignored. At some point, reuniting her with mom will probably become more risky than leaving her there, so they don't really have a...

More help for my genetics lab

Oh, I didn't know that! She just looks so different from the other pointed one. You could tell at birth that one was cream and one was white. Plus the white one has a longer silky coat, while the cream one's fur is short, coarse, and fuzzy. Will she not stay white? Genetics are so fascinating...

    6 week old kitty...what should I do?

I would try mixing KMR (milk replacer) into his food for awhile. You can get it at any pet store, and it's probably cheaper and easier than getting all the stuff for kitten glop. He may eat better. Also, are his littermates gone for sure? Being with a brother or sister may bring him some...

More help for my genetics lab

Well the white one does have light grey lynx points, but that's not like any siamese I've ever seen. Would birth order give any clues? They were all born at the same time, and the odd little siamese one was born in the middle. Does this rule out the two-dad theory? (which is the one that makes...

I don't know what to do...

Well, no word from the family, so I guess that's it. I'm so angry. If they're that irresponsible, and don't care about giving this kitty the best start in life, I don't want them to have her at all. I feel so helpless. I tried the mature, rational approach, and I'm really struggling against...

More help for my genetics lab

Thanks... the cream one looks quite siamese. But I can't figure out the white one. Are there white siamese? None of mom's litter mates were white, or her mother. Could dad be a siamese/himalayan mix of some sort, and have passed siamese traits to one and himalayan traits to the others? Or two...
