    Vet in Toronto?

Apologies if this is the wrong forum, or if this isn't allowed. I did a quick search and couldn't find anything, so I hope this is ok. My partner and I recently adopted a pair of 5 month old kittens from a rescue. We took them this week for an exam with the vet we used with our former cats...

recent dental work, but he's still grinding his teeth

i should add that i AM taking him to the vet, but couldn't get an appointment until next thursday. if there's anything i can do to help him now, or things i should look for to start ruling things out so that they don't run a zillion expensive tests...it'd be really very much appreciated.

recent dental work, but he's still grinding his teeth

my cat hector, who is somewhere between 9 and 13 (got him and olivia from the humane society 2 years ago) was grinding his teeth (usually after he ate) so we took him to the vet, and he had a dental cleaning and a bunch of teeth pulled. he reacted pretty badly to being put under, and was really...

    "rodent ulcer" food suggestions?

thanks for your advice - olivia rarely eats dry food, and since she's older and we're trying to get her to gain some weight we don't push her to eat it either. is there a wet food you could possibly recommend?

hector and olivia, my lovely older kitties!

thanks to all! it's been so rewarding, getting older cats. i mean, i love kittens of course, and they're so adorable themselves, but it's been just wonderful not having the hassles that come with kittenhood, they're already fully trained and they're the most easygoing cats i've ever known. <3

hector and olivia, my lovely older kitties!

finally got a digital camera and a computer at home, so here are pictures of the kitties adopted last summer. they're both somewhere around 8-13 years (vet said they can't really pinpoint it much better than that), and anyway they're wonderful! i'm so glad my partner and i decided to adopt older...

    Your cats weight

hector is part maine coon so he's a big boy at around 16lbs. i think that's probably about right for his size. olivia is a little tiny thing, right now she's at around 6lbs. she was 5lbs when we got her, she's got a tiny frame so i think her ideal is probably around 7 or 8lbs. she's slowly...

    "rodent ulcer" food suggestions?

hi - my little one olivia was diagnosed with a 'rodent ulcer' (esinophiligranosomething or other is the technical term) a while back. she's being treated with cortisone shots every 6 weeks, she's just had her 3rd. the shots help, but once it's been 5 or 6 weeks it starts bothering her again. so...

    Litter brand

i've been using feline pine clumping (they make one that's pellets, but i prefer the clumping, it's a little bit more expensive but still cheaper than the world's best). i really like it. it smells like pine (duh) and doesn't track badly. i'm not sure if it would be safe for kittens though...

    just one flea?

thanks so much for your help. i just felt so silly, like maybe the vet didn't believe me that i had seen a flea. not that she did anything to make me feel like that. anyway, thanks! ugh, the thought of ten more fleas somewhere....*shiver*

    just one flea?

hi all - so in the past week i had noticed that hector was scratching a bit more frequently, so i gave him a good comb, and noticed some flea dirt (confirmed by putting it on wet paper towel - went red). so i made an appointment to take him and olivia in to the vet. i was combing him again the...
