Sometimes I feel like I am becoming a crazy cat lady. I only have two cats currently and I am adopting a third. I have 9 foster kittens total. How many cats do you have? Pictures? Stories?

Chester, was born outside to feral/stray parents, 6 years old!

Cosimo, my mainecoon, 3 years old! You can see he has a fun personality

Teddy, DLH, 3 months! My foster kitten soon to be kitty #3!

Gracie, 3 months old approx, super cute little girl! Foster kitten. Soon to be up for adoption!

Elektra, 3 months old approx! Likes to climb atop humans like mountains. Soon to be adoptable. Constant purrer.

Diva approx 3 months, a flying squirrel this one! Soon to be adoptable and needs a human cat tree of her own!

Sir Cinders, ~9-10 weeks old, shy but super cute and photogenic, love bug once he warms up. Soon to be adoptable. Look at those eyes! Killer.

Mr. Moustache, ~9-10 weeks old quite the personality this one has. He is absolutely heart melting, heart throb! Purrs non stop, love love love all the time.

Newest kittens - haven't named yet. Suggest a name? Super friendly male ~5 weeks old? He is a little sassy.

She is the smallest, no name yet! Sweet as pie. Cute darling. ~5 weeks???

Little girl, no name yet! Shy but gradually coming around. ~5 weeks???

Bourbon, female - 3 years old. I put her inside my home after many weeks of seeing her roaming around the streets, dirty, matted and thin. She had earmites back then.

Barley - was rescued by my husband one cold January morning. He had dental issues, ringworms and a host of other problems. He is now 4 years old. He is the sweetest cat of the family.

Pepsi, 2 years old - my cat back in my home country. He was rescued off of the street by my daughter one stormy day. He has some sort of dwarfism.

Brandy, the cat given to me by an Indonesian Lady. She is fierce and does not get along with any of my other cats. She draws blood and fur off from her other cat siblings. Currently she is sadly at a friend’s home, and I am planning to make a slow re-introduction again, I hope. Otherwise, she will stay with my friend permanently where she is being treated lovingly as an only cat. But I miss her ☹.

I have 2. Lilith and Sophie. I was browsing the website of our local Humane Society and saw Lilith. I had to meet her. I went the next day. At the time, the HS was advertising $40 adoption fees for cats. I thought it was meant to be.

When I got to the HS, I was taken into a small room. Lilith was there playing with her brother who had been adopted and was waiting for his family to come get him. The worker handed me a bag of Temptations then pointed towards a chair in the far corner of the room. Another cat sat under it. Clearly afraid. The worker told me to ignore her as she was "unfriendly". OK. WHAT? SERIOUSLY? Did you really tell a potential adopter to ignore an adoptable animal?

As I was playing with Lily and her brother, the "unfriendly" cat under the chair became more and more curious and started inching towards me. I tossed her a treat here and there and before I knew it, she was at my feet playing with her siblings and wanting treats. She also accepted pets. After a while of this, she went to the food bowl that was sitting in between the chair I was in and the wall. She started eating and was comfortable with me petting her as she ate.

I went to the front desk shortly after this. The same worker who had brought me into the room was there and she asked me if I wanted to adopt Lilith. All of a sudden, I heard a voice say, "I'll take BOTH of them". I looked around to see who it was then realized that I had said it. The worker was stunned. She told me that I must be special because none of the employees or volunteers were able to bond with Midge. I later found out that they had been there all of 2 weeks. Again- SERIOUSLY? How could I take Lilith and leave Midge there knowing their brother was leaving too and the shelter workers were telling potential adopters to IGNORE her?

Remember when I said that cat adoption fees at the time were $40? Well, when she processed everything, she told me that they were "patron pets" and therefore were $150 EACH but if I took 2, she'd give me a BOGO deal. I took it. I picked them up after their spay surgeries. Lilith is still Lilith, Midge became Sophie and we are a family. Would you like to guess which one is my feline soul mate? I adore Lily with all my heart but Sophie and I have just a little something more. Do you think she knows? I do.

I cannot imagine living without either of my girls. We became a family because we were meant to be one.

Charlie-3 years old. Born feral, found all alone at 2 months by my mother's coworker. She wasn't able to keep him, so I said I would. To say he was ornery would be putting it mildly. He's mellowed with age and has been cuddling more and more.

Selene-just about 2 years old. I adopted her from my local animal shelter when she was 3 months old. From the very beginning, she's acted like she owns the place :flail: Very playful and loving.

Awww Bourbon looks like one of my old cats I used to have. I like Brandy's color - she is very pretty. Hopefully she will warm up to them and be friends with the other cats. I wish you luck on that!

I just have Levi Jenkins Brown. Maybe someday if I get a better income I will get him some kitty friends.

He is a scardy cat. Any small noise makes him freak. But he loves to play and is VERY vocal. Love my boy!
He is adorable. He looks super relaxed in that photo! I like the name too, haha. Maybe you can get him a friend soon. Cats are like potato chips, you can't have just one!!!

Kat0121 Kat0121 Are your cats persian? They look very persian-y. I have found exactly the same thing. The cats that I have fostered that have started off shy have often been the sweetest ones. Sometimes the cats that are the most outgoing are - I don't want to say - aggressive, but they are "rough." My teddy (the foster kitten I'm keeping) hissed at me for 24 hours straight when I brought him home. He would cower when I tried to pet him and run to hide. Now, he runs to me (for food because he is a chubby) and rubs against my legs and purrrrssss. It pays off to pay attention to the shy kittens -they are diamonds in the rough.

It's definitely harder to socialize an 8 week old kitten who has never been handled. I'm glad he has relaxed and warmed up to the easy life indoors. I don't know if it's a trend but all my sassy kittens tend to be females! Haha. I love her color. I have always tended to like darker color cats like brown tabby, black and whites, or blue tabby. I LOVE the smoke color too! Then again I just like cats in general. I almost adopted a red and white tabby from the shelter once! I lived in an apartment so I had a two pet limit. :( Luckily, literally 15 minutes later that cat got adopted! I was so happy.

I have 4, plus one rescue that I'm trying to find placement for. Possibly soon to be 2 rescues if I can trap this other one hanging around my place.

Callie, she is 15. She was 8 when I adopted her from a local animal shelter where I used to live. She doesn't much care for the other Cats, but they generally know to leave her alone.
20190311_052445.jpg

Fresca is around 4. She is easily overstimulated and gets cranky, especially with the other Cats. She's a total lap Cat with me but anyone else it's hit or miss.
IMG_2356.JPG

Patch is a little under 3 years old and was one of my rescues that I trapped at my house along with 2 Kittens she had with her. She was semi-feral and was violently aggressive with me, I had to wear coveralls and leather gloves to even go into the room with her. She calmed down a bit after I finally trapped the Kittens and put them in with her but she was still aggressive toward hands and I had to keep wearing gloves if I didn't want to donate blood. Since she is missing her right eye I can only guess that she had been abused and was dumped off after losing her eye. I eventually found placement for her and the Kittens, then adopted her together with Alana later. Now she is the happiest most affectionate Cat I've ever seen, anytime someone goes near her she will get up and start rubbing on them and asking for attention. She's not a lap Cat and doesn't really like to be held, but she will let me pick her up sometimes.
20190112_085743.jpg

I fostered Alana from a rescue I was volunteering at because she wasn't doing very well, she did nothing but hide and was terrified of people. She did a lot better after I fostered her but she still wasn't very comfortable around people. After I adopted her she turned into the lap Cat from hell, she will relentlessly force herself into my lap at every opportunity, to the point where I sometimes have to lock myself in a room just to be able to eat in peace. It's hard to tell but Alana is a Torbie.

Patch and Alana are buddies though, so it's all good.

Stinky is my current foster that I livetrapped this spring, she still has baby teeth so is most likely under a year old. She's nervous and it took quite a while for her to warm up to me but now she's becoming quite affectionate. I'm trying to find placement for her at a shelter but it's Kitten season so I'll most likely have her with me for a while yet.

We have 4 cats...pictured in my signature below.

Plus, we currently have our daughter's cat staying with us until mid-August when she heads back to vet school. She has been attending Ross Veterinary School in St. Kitts and couldn't bring her cat with her. She got tired of living outside the US so she is transferring to Iowa State Veterinary School where she will be able to have her cat with her.

I can't be the only one who sees the irony in attending a veterinary school where you can't bring pets.

She could have brought her cat. However, St. Kitts has extreme quarantine policies for bringing animals into the country since rabies has been eradicated on the island. Her cat would have been in quarantine for about 2 months.

So many gorgeous kitties in this thread but i especially love Chester!

I currently just have one cat, i'm not set up for more, its the goal eventually though, as long as Honeybunny gets along with them i"d eventually like to have 3 cats & a couple dogs (Pomski & a German Shepherd).

This is Honeybunny. I live in San Francisco, and one day a couple years ago i pulled over downtown by a vacant lot to take a phone call and saw her. She was skinny & scroungey looking so i knew she wasnt someones pet. Lured her to me with jerky (all i cpuld get) and scooped her up and brought her home, thinking "ill just bring her to a shelter in a day or two".

Ha.

That day she scarfed some wet kitty food i got her and then just hopped on the bed and chatted with me a bit (she was very meowy) before settling down for a nap. I thought about how relieved she must be to be in a home with a safe place to lay her head, and idk... i couldnt do it. I couldnt go put her in a shelter.

Ive had her 2 years now and she's the best kitty :) sleeps with me at night, loves to play, doesnt get spooked by the vaccuum or loud noises. She's a character and i love her and i'm so glad i investigated that day instead of driving off bc it "wasnt my problem".

Mischisvous:

I currently have one. Felix. The most I've had at one time is 5. That's the only time I felt complete in my life LOL. I don't know what it is about being surrounded by a lot of cats but I love it and miss the feeling. I think it's because they remind me of people but without the judging and arguing.
I no longer have Smokey (the grey cat) or Hazel (the calico).

Hazel was a rescue. I have no idea what happened to her. Smokey is in a really good home. Hazel's two kittens, I don't have any pictures of. But one is living with my brother's family. The other ran away from them and they haven't been able to catch him but they see him in the neigborhood from time to time.

Yes. They are. They are doll faced (traditional) Persians.

That's awesome that you have taken them all in. I know a lot of people wouldn't take that kind of time with a shy/fearful cat. They are all lucky to have you!
