Nope, can't find anything like that. I have "play', "burn" and "sync" on the Windows media player and there is some garbage loaded on there that it will play, don't know where that came from. Cannot find any "file extensions" either anywhere.
Under "computer" I show OS (C), HP Recovery (D), Microsoft Office (Q), Removable Disk (F) but no cd/dvd drive.
On the tower is a slot for a cd/dvd which says "Multimedia Optical Dive" which I have never used and don't know what it's for. It says under the little tilt-down door that it is a multiple recorder and "cd re-writable".
Under control panel I found hardware and sound - devices - auto play - player audio CD using window media player - rip audio CD using Power2Go. So I know these things exist but have no idea how to make them work.
I've put a regular CD in the slot but nothing happens, I thought it was supposed to automatically start. (I really need to adopt a teenage grandchild).

Well the replacement fan came in today, and I guessed correctly. The only problem is that I got one that is too tall and the screws are not long enough. No big deal. I rigged it for now and next time I go to town I will stop at Ace and get the ones I need.
At least I did something right and I don't have to return them also.

It's probably your F drive. Right click on that and see if you get Open.
Ok, I did that, message: Please insert a disk into removable disk (which is not removable but a part of the comp). I assume that is the cd/dvd player, put the disk in it, took forever to load but then it just stopped and the message came back to put a disk in it. So that's a dead end.

Removable refers to the source, not the actual drive. A CD can be removed, which is why the drive is called removable.

For some reason your drive is not reading the disc. Is this the music CD? If so, does it play in a traditional CD player?

Wow. I just took an assessment for an office assistant/accounting clerk position. The math portion had three questions. I can't even remember the second question, it was so unmemorable. The first question was listing a person's hourly wage and gross paycheck and asked how many hours were worked. The third question was a person was due a refund, minus tax percentage and processing fee, what was the final refund.

I do more complex calculations figuring out how much I'm going to ultimately spend on a few items at Target. I'm serious.

[Example: A $10 clearance shirt, a $20 C9 jacket on cartwheel for 30%, a 30¢ banana, a $4 protein meal and a $3 bottle of ibuprofen on cartwheel for 5%, paid for by my red card, has me punching (((((20*.7)+.3)*.8)+(3*.95)+4+10)*.9)*.95 into my phone calculator for the pre-tax total.]

It sounds crazy, but I think Connor may have toilet trained himself. I went to the bathroom and when I was done, he jumped up and peed in the toilet. We keep the lid down cuz Connor and Murphy are obsessed with the toilet and Connor knows how to flush it and we don't want them in there watching it flush all day. Maybe we should start leaving it up?

Spent a couple hours in the hospital cuz I was having contractions. They aren't causing me to dilate. I'm getting no results from my pain. Massively unfair. They're still going, but I'm home now. However, my decision has been made. If I'm gonna keep having useless contractions, I'm getting induced. So, baby will be here Wednesday. Unless he decides to come today.

No work again today. The school district called off again because the side roads haven't been touched.

The (non-school) buses don't even go down the side roads, but they won't be running today regardless.

Doesn't sound crazy at all. Some cats do that; in fact, it was a cat that had taught itself to use the toilet that began the whole craze of "Toilet train your cat!" lo, these many years ago.

It's up to you whether you leave the lid up or down. The tradeoff is water usage versus litter box cleaning time.

The cat I talked about before has finally been adopted! I'm so happy for her and her new family :petcat:

Its my last day working at this company. I start my new job tomorrow.

So, I've just been talking with my friend who had the hysterectomy that found a tumor in her Fallopian tube. She's been talking to the American Cancer Society about it, and the ACS says that the technology is too new for them to have proof, but that my friend is correct -- her long term habit of carrying her cell phone in her front pocket is probably responsible for the cancer. They especially don't have a lot of data about uterine cancer from this, because very few women carry their phones in their front pocket, but they've begun to see a rise in testicular cancer that seems to be linked to it, because a lot of men carry cell phones there.

They also say that it's not just cell phones; it seems to be anything that connects to Wifi, including laptop computers, ipads, ereaders, and so forth. You can get lead shields for your lap, for anywhere from $50-$70 (that's from a quick Google search; your results may vary), but for a lot of us that isn't an option. However, they also said that even a little bit of distance can help, so I guess I know what my next project is: I'm building myself a lap desk to hold my computer up off of my lap. Various stands are also available for ereaders; I would suggest that people get them and use them.

Incidentally, this also validates my "paranoia" about not using my cell phone except with a wired (not Bluetooth) headset.

It takes a lot of data (which in this case means a lot of cancer) to prove causation, but mere absence of proof is not proof of absence, and it looks like the data is trending toward Wifi devices in close proximity causing cancer. I would say that there is enough data to advise caution. Better to be part of the statistics of cautious people who didn't get cancer (which is also useful for the ACS) than falling in the camp of incautious people who did get it.

The extra water usage would be paid by the landlord. Our water bill is included in the rent. So, I would feel bad about it because he's always been really good to us and helped out when we needed a little extra time or something. So, I don't think we'll be leaving the lid up unless we can find a way to prevent the toilet from being flushed.

My son carries his phone in his front pocket. He also uses his laptop on his lap. I will be calling him in shortly to read this. I am lucky if I use my phone once every few days and I keep it either on my nightstand or in a leather case in my purse. So I'm not worried about me. But if something were to happen to him...I would just die. Especially if it can be avoided.

Edited: My son just explained this kind of physics to me. He also explained that lead only works with heavy radiation such as gamma waves and such. Wifi is basically radio waves (or something similar) and they can't interact with matter.
I feel better, however, I did ask him to be careful since this is all new and it may take many years to get proof. And if it turns out to be true, the damage may already be done.

I find this remarkable. Reminds me of how Felix has learned to sit at the kitchen table with his front paws on the table and back paws on the chair. He likes to eat with people. More specifically, my mom and I. But it's developed into him thinking it's okay to take food off the table.

And now for the first time I actually feel better about not being able to adjust to using a laptop in my lap. I had PCs for so long, that I'm only really comfy at a desk (oh all right, a wooden tv tray sometimes). I remember a good while back there was a cell phone/brain cancer scare. I wonder what came of that? I do remember they said it took a good bit of phone time to present a danger, and I HATE being on the phone!

I don't know anything more about it than I've reported here; just what my friend heard from the American Cancer Society on this subject, and that I, personally, plan to take it very seriously.

I don't always trust organizations like the AMA and ACS, especially when they're telling me that something is perfectly safe (aspartame, for instance, which is the most likely cause of my brain tumor). However, when they're telling me to beware of something I take them seriously. Better safe than sorry.

:gaah: My front door lock somehow won't lock now. I went to check my mail box. The lock worked just fine. I came back and opened the door. Fine again. I went to lock the door after I entered, and felt something pop while turning the lever. Now it won't lock at all. The maintenance person is long gone for the day. I have no clue how to take apart the lock, not that I even know what the problems is or how to fix it. I do have a diagram all how the lock is put together (thank you, maintenance manual!) but I'm still not going to attempt to fix it even with Google and Y outube. I found a local locksmith who said would be over in about another hour afer another customer. Yelp and Home Advisor reviews are positive. Hopefully it's an easy inexpensive fix :crossfingers:
