There is so much gloom and doom out in the world right now that many people are focusing on the negative and not the positives. So let's think about the positives for a minute. What's one positive thing that's happened to you in the past 24 hours? It can be as simple as a good cup of coffee, a good meal or someone holding the door open for you.

THINK POSITIVE!!!

For me, I welcomed the New Year with my husband. :)

Hubby and I had a very nice New Year's Eve, cooking dinner at home and then snuggling with kitties for the evening. :Tilt Heart:

I had a lovely day yesterday. We did church first, of course. A lady there gave us a late Christmas present. It was a bowl full of some kind of Amish Cake and Fruit Cake. The down side is none of it was gluten free, so I can't eat it. The good thing is, now my hubby will have some In the freezer to pull out and eat when I take out the last of my gluten free fruit cake. He can eat his own. :lol3:

Then we came home. I had already cooked black eyed peas with ham pieces, some barbecued beef ribs, stir fried veggies. I fried cornbread and we had a wonderful meal. Later on we actually sat together in the living room and watch two movies without me falling asleep. It was sweet and peaceful, a great way to spend New Year's Day.

Home Depot finally agreed they shouldn't have charged me any more money when my new front door was installed. They screwed up several times over a 5 month period; lost orders, sent wrong doors, cancellations, etc. I used my HD credit card to pay for it but there was a balance due at the end to be added to the entire cost of just under $300.  I spent part of yesterday haggling over the phone about it and the department manager reviewed all the notes and agreed to take the charge off. Yay!

There has been NO drama so far at work today...and it's the first day back after New Year's Day....sounds small, but it sure means a lot to me because I'm tired!

...with the cats...
well, this may seem like a small thing, but i squished our punky's antibiotic pill in between two pieces of sliced style cat food this evening......and she ate it!!! so no having to use the pill shooter this evening -- a relief to both our punky and me.

I won a wee scholarship to do a course in the area of work I want to move into, yay!

I took my black cat to the vets as he has conjunctivitis in one eye and put him in his harness before the carrier. He normally just does a barrel roll but he actually had a wander in it and he didn't have to stay in the carrier.

The Chewy's order finally arrived (after FedEx bungling) right before I ran out of cat food.

ETA  - I maligned UPS. Editing to the real culprit:  FedEx.

Oh no!!  I'm expecting a Chewy's order any day...guess I better check my tracking info just in case to make sure it's on the right path!!

Out of the blue I got an unexpected photo texted to me from my old high school best friend...I send her baby granddaughter gifts here and there throughout the year via Amazon...it was a pic of her granddaughter playing with a gift I sent several months ago...made me smile and made my morning!!

A bit of backstory--my friend got pregnant with her daughter our senior year of high school.  Our little group supported her so much through the rest of the school year and she delivered right before our senior prom.  We all loved that baby so much...crocheted a baby afghan during our study hall that we all worked on that she went home from the hospital in...and our little group now is babying HER baby (who also came home from the hospital in wrapped in our handmade afghan)...heehee...very special group of friends that are really family....32 years ago, whew.  Telling my age here.  Good times.

Yesterday was a rough day. I'll go with that I bought some new treats at the vets and Abby absolutely loves them.

Yesterday  I was given a lot of food. I even got a container of litter + 2 cans of Little Friskies. I get commodities every month but this was a whole lot more. Walmart donated big time. This old lady was a dancing.
