good afternoon!

let's keep today's Question of the Day simple......

Which would you prefer:  to go see a movie in a movie theater, go to a play in a theatre, or go see a (music) concert?

i'll start!

i'd choose to go see a play in a theatre. i really enjoy plays, but it's been years (and years) since i've been to see one. i think the last i saw was a Kabuki performance -- just so very cool! i also went to see George Gershwin's opera Porgy & Bess, many years before that -- also very good! and i saw Cats in New York City too.

how about you?

Oh, definitely a play.  Not only do I love them, but people at plays have the common courtesy to either sit quietly, or to whisper very quietly and briefly.  There are seldom small children there, and little up and downing in the audience.

I don't care to go to movies, except for a very few where I think the scenery or special effects demand a big screen, because of the above stated reasons.  And most concerts now make my ears bleed.  Literally.  My eardrums can be ripped by very loud music.

I would definitely jump at the opportunity to see a play!!

I have not been to one in many years.. love them! But they are so expensive not...

Movies, not so much. I like to be comfortable when watching them. I do like the huge screen, but the sound is really loud, now.. the Dolby is just too loud..

Concerts-- perhaps if it was a small, intimate setting. I do not care for the stadium stuff or the arena --too large, and too much screaming from people..

I guess, I am getting old...

A play. We go so rarely; it's so expensive to see them in NYC.

The last time we went was to see The Book of Mormon and it was worth every penny.

I love film, but there's something about being part of a live experience that tops everything.

Much as I like live music, concerts are a thing of the past for me. Most bands I like wind up playing venues with no seating.  I just can't stand for hours like I used to.

movie. I only go to the latest showing at night to make sure the theater is as empty and child free as possible.DD ans I are night owls and we have gone to quite a few late showings and been the only ones in the theater.

A play.  I haven't been to one in years, come to think of it I haven't went to see a movie at a theater in a very long time either.  I remember the first one I seen was in college and it was a student production of Fiddler on the Roof.  I am from a very rural background and I thought that was magical.

Either a play in a theater or a Boston Pops concert
Or one of the free (and less crowded) summer concerts put on by another local orchestra group.

A play, for sure. I go to all the high school and community plays that I can, and if a professional touring company is playing in Sioux Falls or Sioux City I'll go to that too. I don't like concerts and I rarely go to movies in a theater---I prefer to watch it on my own TV so I can pause it to go to the bathroom, and put the captions on (I always watch TV with captions).

Definitely a play (or musical).  For some reason i like to be able to get up and move around during movies.  And concerts are usually too loud (although back in college I enjoyed them too) and crowded.

I would rather go to a music concert. I like bluegrass music and I would love to see Doyle Lawson and his group. :lol3:

yes, people at plays are generally quite courteous!

i agree about going to see movies! for the reasons you mentioned, and also the sticky floors. i remember going to see movies when i was young, and feeling my feet sticking to the theater floors...and the sound of my feet un-sticking as i walked. ick!!!

yes, going to see a play can be expensive......so maybe an occasional 'treat', kind of thing.

definitely! i don't care for loud, or screaming people, or large crowds of any sort.
