Our 45th wedding anniversary is at the end of April.
We ran into some friends at the grocery store on Saturday; we had talked to them quite a while ago about a trip to Ireland and Scotland.....someday. I guess that someday is here, or at least getting closer. Bill asked Rick how serious we were about going to Ireland and Scotland. Rick looked at him and said, "As serious as death." I looked at everybody and said, 'Excuse me? EXCUSE ME???". Robin started to laugh; I was not amused. (These are friends who we may not talk to for months on end and as soon as we see each other, we just simply pick up right where we left off. They are really great people. We have been friends since the early 1970s.)
We're getting together for dinner to discuss plans. They'd like to go around the end of this year or perhaps early in 2017. It will take us some time to get that kind of money saved up to go. Rick told me that if he plans this out and we save the money and he arranges for the tickets and such, if I turn tail and run, he will divorce me on the spot....or as soon as they get back from the trip. He also reminded me that we did get passports,so that's already out of the way.
Looks like we're going to see just what it takes for me to get on that blasted plane. I told Robin if we're going down, I couldn't think of anybody else I'd rather go down with. And she gave me a hug.
I know, I know. It's the trip of a lifetime and all that. I just want to live long enough to come back and talk about it.
