Ok, one last babble before bed.  Only 60 more posts.  I'm beginning to believe that we'll actually make 1000!

So after temps in the 40s and 50s last week, we're back down to the teens, with a wicked wind.  I'm hoping it'll lull me to sleep.  It's gotta be better than a sidewalk outside my window, right?  Here's hoping!

@MoochNNoodles  ....I doubt he is hiding in the shower...lol....did he see you and say....
....and then run to the shower?
Well; he walked through the door smiling but as soon as he did his glasses fogged up.  I'm pretty sure he was back there soaking up the heat!  He spends a good amount of time exposed to whatever weather is going on out there.  It's cold tonight!

I reckon they are English sayings that we also use in Australia... like: talk the legs off an iron pot

An Australian would probably go with windbag or say they 'talk flat out like a lizard drinking'   and if you were babbling in a crazy way you'd be 'mad as a two bob watch' or 'making a proper galah of yourself'
I'm so guilty of using sayings that people outside the US might not know.  I am going to use the waffle one now though.  I like it!!

@the1who feedsus; Mooch was 16lb at her highest weight.  She liked to sleep on my chest as a kitten.  At 16lb; that wasn't fun for me anymore!  I eventually got her used to sleeping on my belly instead.  I think last year she was down to 14.5lb.  We've been trying to reduce her weight a bit.  Noodles too; but it's working better with Mooch.  Noodles is the dominant one with the food here.  I take the girls next month for their annual vet visit so we will see then.

OMG what happened? The last time I checked was around lunchtime and now there's 65 new posts. 1,000 looks achievable now.

A little babble in Australian colloquialisms I made up for you all:

A cobber and I  were waffling on about a bloke from out the back of Bourke.  We'd heard about him on the bush telegraph and it seems he'd gone troppo.  'Now he's a chop short of a barbie' she said.   'Dead set'?  I said.   'Yep, someone told him not to come the raw prawn, and he spat the dummy'.    'Wow, fair dinkum' I replied.  'And I thought he was a bit of alright'.  I looked like a stunned mullet.   'Oh well, he was probably a wowser', she replied.  'Lets get our cossies and spent the arvo in the surf'. ' Yer'on', I replied, feeling quite chuffed.

You really really would think I have better things to do with my time

Say what!???

Just kidding.  I can get the gist!  I just had to read slowly!

I think I'm going to have to give in a little early tonight.  I'm fighting the munchies BIG time!  I'm out of grapes but I could slice an apple.  I need something sweet.  The longer I sit here the more I want something too.  I think it's mostly a bad habit of snacking after everyone is in bed.  I'm just happy everyone went to bed easy tonight.  No fighting anyone to stay in bed.  That is always nice!!

SMH guys I feel angry sad and discouraged at the same time. I'm set to move soon and I got news that my funds are being reduced. I still have enough money to support myself but my sister just made me more stressed about the idea that I was once happy about. She is concerned because I'm moving further away from the rest of the family, we all live within a 5-15 min difference from eachother but where I'm going is 40 mins away. So she called me complaining to me about that and telling me to keep looking for apartments but I like this one and its actually better than the other apartments I've looked at that wanted more money. She also was questioning how I was gonna live off the amount I'm getting now and I had tried my best to convince her and I think I got through to her but now she has me stressed out worried and doubting if i should move now. I was happy and looking forward to leaving but now I feel like crying cause I'm scared now. I dont want to struggle

@betsygee Happy Belated Birthday!

mani mani Say what? That reminds me of the time I was at a pub with two English friends and an Aussie joined us. After a couple of minutes he looked very confused and asked: "Are you sure we're all speaking the same language?"

goldeye goldeye Doubts are normal, and a 40-minute drive really isn't far. The important thing is that you like the new apartment and can feel at home there.

Mogli is really into keys right now. For the past two weeks he's been taking any keys he finds (including out of my handbag) and running around the house with them. I think he's trying to teach DH not to leave them lying around.

It's your life... you've made a great decision that you're happy with it.  This is what families do.. we're hard-wired in to see the worse possible outcome for each other and bring it up!

If you did the sums and believe it's manageable, then spend the time preparing and enjoying.

On the babbling side of things, I just flooded the laundry.. water everywhere.. the cats are in a state of complete shock... I told them to just go somewhere where it's dry, but they'd rather stand there looking amazed..

Yea I guess you guys are right. Only thing that worries me is my budget now since the amount I make has been reduced a bit. I don't want to struggle to make ends meet i dont have kids though besides my cat so maybe it would be a bit easier?

Have you ever done a really comprehensive budget?  Just work out your incomings and your outgoings and see if it will work for you. You need to be really honest with yourself about what you spend

I'm going out to dig up a cycad and replant it... they're prickly things, so wish me luck!

Cycad replanted.  They have the world's longest roots!   Since they're an ancient plant and can live for 1,000 years, I guess they've got the whole survival thing sorted.

There are so many english accents in world that many of them are completely alien to other. Jamaican english is very difficult to understand for example. Even in UK there are so different accents that it is really hard to get what some are saying.

But of course in Lousiana they do speak differently than for example in New York or California. Our surroundings affect us greatly.

@Gold Eye, remember that little every month that is needed for cats that manage to get sick at worst times.

I did took my smallest one and carried her again downstairs, this time she chose to protest only verbally, then she heard the mouse and started leaping to direction of sound, still moaning about she being carried to such new place, but ears pricked and full attention towards the sound, whiskers spread wide apart and body like tensioned spring, she was all into hunt.

Took not many seconds until she pounced first time, but as she has quite little experience hunting anything larger than fly, she missed, but after that she set to stalking.

There she is still stalking, I attempted to wait, but my patience is no match for patience of stalking cat, had to give up after 20 minutes or so.

That is bit silly, cat has absolutely no patience at all when it comes to food, petting or playing, but when hunting few can actually stalk as long as well motivated cat.

There's no set time for a babbling thread.. they just appear out of nowhere..

A pile of ironing awaits.. why do I dislike ironing so much?

jtbo jtbo They're incredibly patient when they're stalking, aren't they? I hope she gets the mouse (or mice).

My m-i-l said she didn't have anything to read, so I charged up her Kindle and downloaded over 50 books (most of them free Classics in German), so that should do her for awhile. :lol3: They don't have an Internet connection, so she's never downloaded any herself. My b-i-l or nephew downloaded several when they gave her the Kindle, but she's read all of them (and says she wants something other than religious books!).

Oh I hate ironing! Even more than dusting. Doing many loads of laundry today and studying. I have an online test to take in a few hours. Hope to get some exercise in as well.

Still haven't done it. It's a huge basket and it's getting really late. Could someone send me some ironing vibes?

:vibes::vibes::vibes: Ironing is my least favorite chore, so I simply don't iron anything unless it's absolutely necessary - usually cotton tops in the spring and summer.

LOL! Ironing vibes sent! I need studying vibes. My house needs cleaning. Hopefully during spring break I can knock some of that out.
