I figured this would be a fun topic. I think we've done this every year and I know I'm always interested in finding out what others have received this holiday season.

So...that being said...what did you get this year for the holidays?

I was very surprised (and grateful!) by the generosity of friends and family this year. In fact, I'm amazed. I didn't expect to receive much of anything and what I did get far exceeded anything I could have imagined. First off, my Secret Santa spoiled me with tons of gifts and goodies (as I've posted in the appropriate thread). Danielle made me 3 gorgeous bows, a cover for my Nook, and bought me soft socks, a magnetic to-do list, a good luck charm, nail polish, hot chocolates, a box of sugar-free fudge wafers, kitty toys, and window clings. See?! I told you I was spoiled! We also did a Secret Santa at work and, so far, I've received a super cool pen, a package of colored Sharpies (a hot commodity where I work), sticky notes with dogs and cats on them, hair ties, soft socks, some yummy candy, and a delicious smelling orange candle. I also got a gift card from a client and some scratch off lottery tickets from my boss.

From my mother, today, I received a gorgeous olive green corduroy jacket, a jewel-toned scarf that matches my coat, gloves, journals and a notebook, fancy pens, the cutest pair of pajamas ever (they are black with a sparkly leopard print and super soft), an sound machine/alarm clock, a bottle of the best smelling perfume ever, a kitty calendar, and a down alternative comforter. My brother bought me a gorgeous Vera Wang purse and wristlet, a heat mat for my new gecko (who has not been purchased yet, but, trust me, I can't wait to find the right one), and a gift card to a local restaurant. And, from my father, today, I received a book about animal behavior (which is awesome -- I cannot wait to read it as it's very detailed and thorough), a funky winter hat, and a CD (Adele). And, as a combo gift from my mom, dad, and brother, I got an iPod Nano. I didn't have an MP3 player and certainly not an iPod, but I had wanted one. I just never expected to receive one!

My roommate and I will exchange gifts later so I can post more about that then. And, then, Thursday is my birthday. So, yeah, I'm definitely feeling spoiled and very, very thankful right now...

I hope everyone is having a wonderful holiday! Feel free to post what you received as well. A little gratitude is a good thing on days like today!

I had a wonderful Christmas this year.....DH is a terrific gift giver. He gave me a hands free system for my car, an Olay face scrubber and an IPad 2.  My sister gave me several new bracelets and another ornament in a series she started 3 years ago. My mom gave DH and me a Ninja and me a beautiful blanket.  I almost felt guilty being so spoiled.....almost.

I didn't get much, as things were tight for my family.

All I got was 5 bottles of nail polish, a WM gift card and some nice slippers.

Hmmm...I am not really sure how to answer.  My dh and I do not exchange gifts.  We have been blessed beyond measure and are able to purchase what we want mostly when we want it.  Christmas for us is about our children and about giving to others.  We give to charities and families in need for the Christmas holiday and that really fills us with great joy.

I suppose I can list what I "unwrapped" this year - but the real gift for my family and I is the one God sent to us 2011 years ago ... that is celebrated on this day!

My secret sister here at TCS spoiled the kitties and me.  I adored all of our gifts and will treasure the hand drawings for a lifetime.

My mother gave me a necklace set, a weekly planner (with kittens on each week!), some soft socks, and chocolate.

From friends:  an ornament, a McDonalds gift card for my mint hot chocolate addiction, a magazine subscription, a "friends" hand towel, a candle, a Gary Patterson Cat calendar, a cute little Rooster "shelf sitter" (my kitchen is done in roosters), a canister of candy, a "friends" plaque, peach handsoap, a bath and body works body spray...and I can't remember the rest.  They were all small and thoughtful gifts.

From my sons:  Candy from my oldest.  Cookies, dehydrated papaya strips, and a hand made card from my youngest.

DH and I made a deal when we got married that we'd try not to spend too much on "stuff" because we'd rather put it towards travel.  My DS bought me a few anime DVDs and DH bought me a microfiber blanket because he's tired of me stealing his. :)

We have 2 cruises planned for 2012 and I'm trying to squeeze one more in for next Christmas but we'll see.

My husband got me a new jacket. I have been wanting one for a couple of years and finally got one that I love.

My in laws got me pajamas, a shirt, a sweater, socks, shoots and ladders shot glass game, perfume and slippers.

My husbands grandma got us 2 bottles of wine (white and red). The white wine was in this puzzle, which took us a while to get apart. http://www.mssshop.co.uk/product/wine_bottle_puzzle_62694

My mom/sister got me 3 pairs of pajama pants, a sweater, yoga pants, a donut maker, the complete King of Queens series dvd set, a bath set, a bunch of candy, slippers, a purse, a wallet and more which I can't remember right now.

My cousin (who drew our name) gave us a $50 gift card to go to dinner. Our favourite restaurant is on the list it can be used at, and we will probably go there this week

My grandma gave us towels. She always gives us towels, but we can always use them.

We still have one more Christmas tomorrow with my husbands family.

Fighting for ferals in NW NJ!
 Sounds like everyone had fun opening gifts!

LuvMyParker, things were tight for us this year too, and my family hasn't exchanged gifts for years.

Someone on TCS asked me what we were doing for Christmas this year, and I said chemotherapy for Lazlo. :lol3: But I wasn't joking. Gary and I exchanged love, not gifts, and the kitties got extra attention and play today. :paw:

BUT... I did have a WONDERFUL surprise! Feralvr sent me a package I did NOT expect!   It was really nice having something to open!

She sent

Toys for the kitties (which they LOVE!) I gave one of the catnip mice to Baloo and the feral kitties, and they have had a blast playing with it all afternoon.
A bag of Stella & Chewy's freeze-dried raw Chik Chik Chicken :lol3: (Which they also love!)
A BEAUTIFUL silver locket on a chain. :heart3: SO thoughtful, seriously.
A LOVELY green bead bracelet - I don't know what stone it is, but it is PERFECT for my wardrobe.
TONS of Jay's potato chips (you can only get them at Jewel in the midwest/Chicago area - Gary's and my FAVORITE chips!)
Two bags of peanut M&Ms (I LOVE THEM) and a bag of plain ones (because Gary prefers them to the peanut :lol3: )
And a Walmart gift card!

:thud:

It was just so sweet and thoughtful. It could have been coal and with the card that came with it I would have loved it! :lol3:

Rick gave me the Nook Tablet and I love it. Had some issues trying to connect, but it was because of internet issues with the computer, not the Nook. After dinner, my BIL and came back to the computer room and got everything straightened out and the Nook is working fine. (I think I need a new router). I've downloaded several books and all the Angry Birds apps. The furkids gave me the new Stephen King book (I've been a King fan forever and always get a new book for Christmas, when there is one available.) And a B & N gift card. And a bag of Utz Sea Salt and Vinegar chips in my stocking.

Mom gave us a gift card to Red Lobster.....she gave the same thing to my sister and BIL, so the four of us will be going together.

Our DS and DIL gave me the storage card for the Nook and a gift card to B & N.

Everybody else gave me money and gift cards to B & N.

We always receive an adorable calendar that our DIL does with pictures of the grandchildren from throughout last year; she does it through Shutterfly. I think we'd all be heartbroken if we didn't get the calendar; we all look forward to that every year.

My sister gave me some neat Mintfetti soap from a new soap store that opened in town. Their soap is awesome! A GF gave me some Vanilla Bean soap from the same store and a flameless candle. Another GF gave us a huge fruit basket and a wheel of baby Swiss cheese from our local cheesemaker; she says she had no idea what to give us and she knew that my brother and SIL were giving us wine. She also gave me a bag of peanut M & Ms.

My brother and SIL gave us a a bottle of wine. (See? Wine, cheese, and fruit....what could be better? And M & Ms to finish it all off!)

Dear Richard is very happy with his truck ramps. He was kind of expecting them because we had talked about them back during the fall, but when I told him that one of his gifts was in the basement under the pile of drywall, he just looked at me and started laughing. I always give him a Taz ornament for the Christmas tree; he's a big Taz fan. The requisite package of socks.....it's been a decades-old joke that he has to receive socks for Christmas (one year I didn't do it and he said he was crushed
) A couple pairs of lounge pants, so he can FINALLY put those old things in the trash! A book about Penn State. Some CDs. And a bag of roasted cashews and a big box of Little Debbie Nutty Bars for his stocking (which he loves as much as I love my peanut M & Ms!).

It was a nice Christmas. Our house was full....we ended up setting up a small table in the kitchen in addition to our regular table, so that we could seat everybody. Between all the people in the house and the seven cats, six of whom were out and about (Amber did her hiding thing), the kitchen was a very busy place. But dinner was good, everybody loved the cheesecake, and I loved the white coconut cake. Life is good.

Over the river and through the woods...
Money is a bit tight for us this year so DH and I agreed on a $50 limit for us, so from hubby I got a cute pair of flannel PJs with cats on them, some much needed socks (guess he's tired of me stealing his!), a very cozy and warm lounge set, and a very...umm...skimpy nightie (he has to get me at least one slutty thing each year...I keep telling him, that's a present for him not for me!
). At our work jingle I got 3 candles- 1 vanilla, 1 berry and 1 that is called "a day at the beach" that smells like pina-colada. The family jingle I got (from DH's aunt...would that be my aunt-in-law?) a bottle of wine and a glass wine stopper. I told her the wine stopped was unnecessary. Once I open a bottle, it's gone. And guess  what, it's gone (I did share with my MIL though). My MIL gave me 2 gift cards (Wal-mart and JCPenny) so today we hit the mall and I got 3 pairs of jeans, a beautiful sweater (70% off
) a sweatshirt, another shirt, underwear and a few other essentials and I still have $30 left on the Penny's card. So, all in all, a pretty good Christmas!

I love getting gifts like that. Since, I now have a bf/fiance/husband (you pick the title), all my friends got me gift cards to Victoria Secrets, Fredricks of Hollywood, and some local xx stories. I just need him to go with me, so he can pick what he likes on me. Or until I learn his "taste" in said items
. I could always buy myself some other stuff, but he might not like that
.
