Does your cat jump into your arms?

Our cat Jack jumps into our arms pretty frequently, typically from the ground. He'll land with a paw on either side of your neck and rub his face on your chin/nose, we'll of course catch him when he lands on us. But he doesn't use his claws at all, he totally trusts you to catch him.

Once or twice he has jumped up outside at night when we couldn't see him and he still won't use his claws, he'll hit your chest, fall away then run away for a bit.

He first started doing this when he was about 2 years old, he'd be spazzing out tearing around at 400 miles an hour, jump off the couch, onto/off your chest and keep burning around.

A couple of times wen he was moving a little slower I'd grab him when he'd hit my chest, pet him for a bit then let him keep tearing around.

Eventually when he was only slightly wound up I started encouraging him to jump into my arms from the couch, he did that for a few weeks and then started doing it pretty much whenever we encouraged it and started initiating it himself, slight crouch with eye contact then BIOING!

Then one day he walked up to my wife outside, gave her the look, and since then he does it all the time, a couple times a day for both of us typically.

I'm sure he's not the only cat to do this, but I think its probably pretty rare too, so here is a poll to find out!

They'll jump into my lap, but not my arms. So I voted never.

Mine will, but only off of a table or the couch, not from the floor. Most of the time they just wait for me to come to wherever they are and let them climb into my arms, but occasionally they'll jump to me if I'm not fast enough or whatever.

Nope, Riley hates being held and Xander isn't much of a jumper.

I don't know if I've ever tried this or given my cat the opportunity to do so. She jumps into my lap though. I think a cat of mine that passed away used to jump into my arms, but I was young and don't know if I'm imagining it now. I didn't vote because I want to see if she will or not first.

I guess for me it depends on the cat. Isaac would never, he doesn't trust any human that much. Maggie, well she just uses my back as a step stool to get to the top of doors. Levi, has a couple of times. Jordan on the other hand does this all the time. Sometimes he refuses depending on his mood, but usually I can just stand above him clap my hands and say Jordan UP & he will jump right into my arms & crawl up to my shoulder.

Harley will jump up into my lap and put her paws on my chest, but she doesn't like to be held in my arms at all! She'd prefer to jump out of my arms instead of into them.

I have had rescue kittens do that - jump OUT of their cages and into my arms or onto my shoulder!!!

Nope, never - none of mine like being held, so there's no way they'd jump into my arms!

A friends cat leaps into people's arms though, it's very cute (unless you're not a cat person...)

When Jack was young he didn't like being held, but once he started jumping into our arms he liked being held, probably because it is his choice to be held, no us picking him up.
