Hercules came home last night!

We moved in with my parents on July 1. We have 7 feral cats that have lived with us outside and then we also have Sunny, who was a former feral kitten that the others hated, so he came in. We moved our lovely little family out to the country with my parents while our home down the road is being finished. This gives us a chance to use any spare money (is there such a thing?) on our home. The cats are in their kitty condo that dbf built for them. In the end of July, Dbf was tweaking the roof ( I told him not to) and our beloved Hercules escaped.

We have looked high and low for him. We have trapsed through woods calling him, we have ventured onto peoples farms looking for him. We also had all of the neighbors keeping an eye out for him. One thing about Hercules is that he never has missed a meal (until the escape incident), so I knew that this would be the thing that would bring him back to us eventually.

Last night I was in the kitty condo with my babies during feeding time and then went and sat on the back porch for a few minutes. I heard a loud meow, the kind of loud meow that Hercules has always done (it was so funny when he was teeny tiny he still had that loud meow). I looked over the edge of the porch and there was Hercules! He ran right to me. I promptly feed and watered him and then there was lots and lots of petting and loving.

I ran inside and called dbf who was at the racetrack. He was so excited that he left the racetrack and raced home to see Hercules (Hercules was his boy and one of the only feral cats that genuinely likes him, the others merely tolerate him). He's never been mean to them, but he's very tall and has a deep voice and to a small cat, he can be very scarry, I suppose. It's a shame, because he loves them all. We are so very excited that Hercules is finally home and our family is back together. I really feared the worst for him since he's not real good at hunting. He's a little skinny, but we'll get that all fixed up. It's so good to have him home.

Wonderful news. So glad he found his way home, especially since it was a new place for him.
