Thumbs up Declaw Ban

Hope this starts catching on in more places. A city in Virginia banned declawing last year. Now LA and Hollywood are banning it.

San Francisco is doing it also.
I posted about it on my facebook and a DJ from the radio station here replied.
I hope it gets banned all over.

yahoo! that LA law has been in the works for a couple years now.

It will be wonderful when it becomes nation wide. Scary for a while though, because there will be some quacks willing to do it 'behind the scenes' and the mutilation will be bad. But in the end, it will become accepted and no more cats will be mutilated.

How long will it take, once it's banned everywhere, for people to stop thinking of it as "something standard you do when you get a cat"? A generation or two, maybe?

I read about this in yesterday's Little Big Cat newsletter - wonderful, wonderful news indeed!!

The fact this is making news will push vets to become ever more reluctant to do this (well, the ethical vets, of course) even in those areas with no ban in effect. It will also help spread awareness through the general public, who, generally-speaking, remains blissfully ignorant of the complications and cruelty involved in declaws.

I am ecstatic about this, whoot, whoot!

That is great!

When I read the title of this thread I thought it said "Declaw Ben" and I thought "oh no! who is Ben?"

And I thought it said, "Dewclaw Ban."

What's wrong with dew claws?
