Name: Dylan Ishmael Sex: Male Year of Birth: 2002 Breed: Domestic Shorthair Fur Color: Other Eye Color: Yellow Biography: Dylan's fur is blue tabby. He was an only kitty for six months, and during that time, he became a serious biter and scratcher. We talked to the vet and were told that he was a very strong alpha male who needed someone to dominate -- and with no other cats around, he'd chosen to dominate US. So my parents adopted Sassy, and she and Dylan quickly became a cozy little couple. For a long time, Dylan wanted desperately to go outside, and he would try to escape every time the front door was opened. He managed to do it four times, but the first three times, I was on hand and was able to recapture him in the bushes out front. The fourth time, I wasn't here, and at 80-something, my mom was in no shape to catch him. She tried, though, calling to him and following him out into the bushes until she couldn't go any farther. Then she stopped and just said, "Dylan, please come back, please, I don't know what I'd do without you, Dylan!" Dylan stopped, looked around at her for a moment... and then came right back to her and let her pick him up. He's never tried to run away again. Dylan's humans are CarolPetunia's parents; his kitty family is Clyde Lee, Pearl Noelle, Sassy Lane, St. John Dundee, and Abby Helen (Clydie's mom). |
Arrival Story: My parents had been catless for 13 years when I convinced my father that my mom needed a kitty in her life. I took her to a nearby SPCA, and the instant we walked in the door, Dylan chose us. All the other kittens were fast asleep in their cages, but Dylan leapt right up, plastered himself to the cage door, and mewed nonstop until the attendant got him out and let us spend some time with him. He was so brash and full of energy, just the kind of kitten my mom adores -- there was never a moment of doubt. And when they gave Mom a clipboard so she could sign the adoption papers, little eight-week-old Dylan climbed right out on it as if to approve the transaction himself! =D When we got him home, my father grudgingly admitted he was cute, but reminded us that we should not expect him to have anything to do with "that cat." We hadn't prepared properly, though, and we needed to go out and get some kitten supplies -- so we left tiny little Dylan on a blanket on the sofa and hoped he would sleep while we were gone. When we got back, my father was asleep in his recliner... and Dylan was asleep in his arms. :-) Favorite Food & Treats: Dylan loves potato soup, whipped cream, and the occasional strand of spaghetti! Favorite Toys: Dylan loves the laserlight toy! He's a very large, lanky, heavily-muscled cat, and he moves just like a tiger. Even his claws and teeth are longer and sharper than usual, so when he chases and attacks the dancing red spot of laserlight, he's very impressive indeed. I've actually seen him run diagonally up a wall and veer right back down again to the floor without missing a step! |
