Arrival Story:

Six months after I adopted Clyde, I knew I wanted a companion for him, and I was sure the right kitty would come along at the shelter where I volunteered. One sweltering August day, my mom and I stopped at a Petco for kitty food, and they were having an SPCA adoption event. Mom saw five-month-old Pearl and fell in love on the spot. She was sure Pearl was the kitty for me. Well, the previous year, I had felt that same certainty about Sassy, who became companion to my mom's Dylan -- so turnabout was fair play. I adopted Pearl and held her in a cardboard carrier on my lap while Mom drove. And that tiny little grey fluffball who had been so sweet and quiet in the store started howling like a banshee! All the way home, she screeched nonstop! Mom and I looked at each other and said, "What have we done?" =D But Pearl turned out to be the sweetest, gentlest, most loving little girl in the world. She and Clyde quickly became close... and every night, it's Pearl who snuggles up on my chest to purr me to sleep. :-)

Favorite Food & Treats:

Pearl is a very delicate eater, and she loves to lick whipped cream off my fingers. She also likes a bit of cheddar cheese now and then.

Favorite Toys:

The Pink String. Oh, how my Pearl loves her Pink String! It's just a length of pink plastic lacing like scouts use to make lanyards, but to Pearl, it's a kittycat carnival! Several times a day and at least once every night, I hear Pearl suddenly mew-mew-mewing louder and louder as she approaches from the other end of the house, and I know it means she's bringing me the Pink String so we can play! =D Nothing in the world makes her happier.
