i have tried 5 different kinds of treats and none of my cats liked the first 4 kinds. one cat likes the 5th kind but i noticed after i bought it that it contains ethoxyquin. the kinds i ve tried are generic pounce, and 3 flavors of greenies. the kind kya will actually eat is whisker lickins salmon and tuna. the first ingredient is animal digest and the last ingredient is ethoxyquin. any suggestions for good tasting treat that doesnt have such bad stuff in it? someone suggested meow mix treats but i havnt been able to find them, only the meow mix food.

My guys just don't like cat treats (or at least, they don't like any of the ones I'm willing to let them eat ... just because I eat junk food doesn't mean my kitties need to! ;) ). Sometimes I'll give them a bit of tuna or a sliver of cooked chicken as a treat, but for the most part they seem fine without the extra treats during the day.
Whenever we go in to the vet's we always get free samples of treats to try. Our vet gives them to us in little pill bottles, and they're generally provided by the same companies we buy our regular cat food from. I think a lot of cat food companies give freebies to vets to widen their customer base, so you might try asking your vet for recommendations or samples. (We never have to ask. Every time we go in, our vet is like "Here! Try these!" Our cats never like them, though -- not because the treats aren't any good, just because my guys aren't into cat treats.)

Halo Freeze Dried chicken treats. These are the best because they're natural, albeit a little pricey. But well worth every penny imo. We've went through a few tubs already

Gizmo cannot have treats but the upstairs cats (whom I'm catsitting for again this weekend) eat freeze dried Wildside Salmon and love it.

My boys do the kitty dance for the Halo treats! They like the beef the best.

Depending on what your cats like (beef, chicken, seafood), and what texture, the following are all highly recommended by Alix :)
All are single protein, nothing included but the protein itself - no preservatives added.
Grandma Lucy's - roasted chicken, freeze-dried mahi mahi, freeze-dried tuna (and coming out soon, Ocean Fish), these are a firmish treat.
Kitty Kaviar - shaved bonito flakes.
Whole Life - freeze-dried cod, beef liver, chicken - the cod is a particular favorite here.
Wildside Salmon - which is coming out in new sizes and in a new resealable pouch (1.5 oz. and a 3 oz.)
ShrimpNip - organic catnip with small freeze-dried shrimp

My cat would eat cheerios but only if they were wet with milk. I would give him the last two or three in a drop of milk at the bottom of my bowl. Then one day he lapped up the milk and left the cereal. Since then he won’t eat them.
Chester is very particular about food. He goes crazy for the water in the tuna can but will not touch the fish. Up until he started eating cheerios I would say he does not like people food of any kind. Now I am revising that opinion.
He always wants to check out anything that I am eating. He will sniff it and turn his nose up at it.
His favorite treats are Pounce tuna flavor. Preferably the soft ones that are shaped like fish. Some of the fish have green stripes that cause him to leave interesting things in the litter box.
I’d like to give him healthier natural treats but I am sure he wouldn’t like them.

Neither of my cats will do more than sniff the healthy treats I've gotten them. At least they do like the greenies.
