don't know if this is the right place to post this, but i just noticed yesterday that my cat has weird bump on his tail. it's maybe a half and inch big, and he won't hold still long enough for us to look at it. he doesn't flinch or anything if we touch it, so it doesn't seem as if it hurts. do any of you have a clue as to what this might be? if it's still there in a couple days, we will probably take him to a vet, though we really can't afford it. i just odn't know if he got it stuck somewhere, or this could be something serious:confused:

If he won't hold still long enough for you to look at it, he is probably in a little bit of pain. Cat's tails are very sensitive and he could of gotten it caught in a door, or underneath something. If you can feel above the bump without touching it,just run your hand a few inches over the area it's at and you feel heat coming from it, then chances are good it is an infection and needs to be looked at. Kitty could of gotten bit by a bug, or while chasing the tail, injured it.

In caring for a pet comes great responsibility, and one of those responsibilities is to be able to maintain adequate vet care for the animal. No one is there to see this bump and to gauge the kitty's reaction but you. So it is your judgement call if you should take kitty to the vet or not. But tails do become infected and if that happens, then it will be a more expensive vet call then if you took preventative measures first. Good luck
