Hi. Our 3 year old's claws are forever getting stuck in the carpet, on the furniture, screens, blankets, you name it. I have never heard of or seen a cat that has problems with their nails. Is this more common than I think? She's gotten very good about us clipping them - probably likes it, in fact.

All depends on the curl of the nail. Loki's nails basically grow straight so he never get's caught on carpet. By my friends cat Ezzy, her nails actually curl into her paws so our clue that it is time for a trim is when she get's stuck to everything and I mean everything.

Most cats claws if not trimmed tend to get to long and get stuck. My persian is terrible like that we have to cut his claws every couple of weeks.

As well as the curl, it also depends on the speed of claw growth.

My Molly had quite curled claws and is a velcro kitty too! I keep them trimmed and it really does make a difference in her sticking to the carpet etc.

It really has improved as she has aged (she is approx. 3) and with the maintained clipping every week.

Sticky kitty around here tells me it's time to trim claws.
Espcially since Spaz completely resents it if you try to help her get unstuck from something.

Okay, so it doesn't sound that unusual then. Good. She gets so angry, too, if you try to help her. I'll bet it is because they curl way in - I never really noticed that.
