Hi, we got 2 kittens yesterday and 1 of them has fleas. I weighed him and he only weighs 800g. I bought some flea treatment which is suitable for kittens from 4 weeks old. However the weight is supposed to be 1kg. Can i cut the tablet in half and give this to him?

Any advice would be greatefully received.

Suggest you bring both to the Vet for a check up first. Besides never ever give over the counter treatments of any kind - they can do more harm than good esp. when they are this little!!!!!!!

In the meantime bathe them in a detergent shampoo / get a flea comb and start brushing them. I know it's no fun but it is safe!!!

I wouldn't recommend giving any over-the counter product unless it is recommended by the vet. What kind of pill do you have? Frontline and revolution are both safe on kittens over 8 weeks of age.

Like the other poster said, at least start using a flea comb until you can talk to your vet further about this.
