hi all
not sure how many of u have long haired cats... snowy is long haired and latelt coz hair been getting long round his private parts he keeps having no 2 troubles.
i mean he goes but they cling on to him and its real hard for us to remoove his numbers 2s.
iv booked a appointment at the vets to see if they can maybe trim his hair down... is this smart move? or any other sugestions?

My Rosies quite fluffy around her rear and once she had a bit poop stuck to her fur that i had to cut off, so after that i trim her regularly there :bigthumb:

I know the feeling because Rosie won't let me either. I have to have a few treats in my left hand, and while she's eating them i quickly snip away the fur.
The vets would be a good idea because if your anything like me i stress out when she stresses out :(

I don't know about in the UK but here in the States groomers that do cats will do what is called a sanitary cut. It's just a trim on the back end to make the litter box deal less messy.

If your longhair is not a show cat, then it will not hurt to trim the hair under his tail to keep cleaner. A groomer can do this (less expensive then the vet) or you can do it yourself with help from another person. One holds the cat still, other uses scissors to cut it shorter.
If you do it yourself, just trim a little at a time. He'll probably hate this and want to get away so patience is the key.
