We got a bright pink collar with a small bell on it for Angel because she likes to sneek outside and try and hide. She has never ran off and stays away from the street. I got the collar because I thought it would be easier to find her when she is outside.

She hates the bell, she is used to it but she is still not happy about it. Do you all think it is mean to put a collar and bell on her when the others don't have them?

Would you be happy if you had a belt with a bell and it would ring during every action you did? Personally I would HATE this!!! :onfire: And a cat, who's mission is sometimes to hide and move silently will hate this bell even more!!! Don't torture Angel and take the bell off her collar!!! :nod:

Both our girls have bells on their collars and their rabies tags along with name tags on it.I see NOTHING wrong with collars with bells.If it means you are able to track down your cat and know where they are, then I personally think it's best to have a bell.Would you rather your cat wander off and not be able to find it?NOT ME!!!!
I should also say, our girls are inside ONLY cats.

All 5 have bells on their collars - they are well adjusted kitties. Sometimes we have to do things that are best for our kitties - wheter they like it or not.

All of my cats wear collars with bells, and I can tell who is walking down the hall by the sound they make with their bells. Sturgis also likes to sneak up on everyone so a bell is a neccesity for him.

Lily & Twitch both have bells on their collars. Twitch not being able to hear her bell couldn't care less. Lily loves her bell. It goes with her everywhere & I will find her sitting on the floor moving her head to make her bell make noise. Both kitties wear ID tags as well.

i took off the bell too, if a cat wants to sneak, that's their right.

I took her collar off this morning. She just keeps trying to get it off anyway. She has enough of a attitude without a collar making it worse. I thought it was a good idea at the time but I guess I didn't think it through.

It's a personal choice you make with your cat. If the bell and collar were causing her that much stress, I would have taken them off, too.

I should also say, our girls are inside ONLY cats.:yeah: mine all have bells, as well as rabies tags & id tags. the bells only sound when they're running & jumping - they're pretty good at walking without jostling the bell enough to make it ring. it did take a wekk or two for them to get used to it, but they did get used to it!

The only time I do recommend breakaway collars with bells is if the cats are outside. That way the birds etc..have more of a chance at flying away if they hear the bells coming. Otherwise I don't like collars either.
