View Full Version : Dont know why sig won't show up
Jen 25th October 2005, 03:23 PM Can someone please help me out here?
I posted an image at photobucket.com, it is in the correct format and everything.
I copy and pasted this:
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y109/endlessenigma/Sig.jpg
into my sig and the picture is not showing up. Am I doing something wrong? Should there be spaces between [IMG] and [URL]?
I am confused...
Thanks.
Nebula11 25th October 2005, 03:27 PM There doesnt need to be spaces between IMG and the url......it seems like the url has errors....
I would rename it and reload it back on photobucket then try again.....
good luck
Kai Bengals 25th October 2005, 03:31 PM Might be the periods between "y1" and "senigma"

This is what it is that I copied and pasted I don't know why the ... came out, maybe it was too long and it shortened it.
I will try to do it again. Thanks.

No, that's just an ellipsis in the statement of the URL -- you often see that where a URL is given within text, and it doesn't affect how the URL works.
I'd suggest going back to your photobucket account, and picking up the third set of code under the image -- the one that has the [IMG] tags already attached -- and use that to paste into your sig block. That way, you don't need to worry about the code at all -- photobucket has done it for you -- and it's a simple copy-and-paste job.
Good Luck! Looking forward to seeing your sig!
Jen 25th October 2005, 04:22 PM I went to photobucket and it turns out that the picture isn't showing up there now either...Could the picture maybe be too big? I reduced it a lot, and it is in the right format, I am a graphic designer not a web designer, I feel like I should know the basics of how to post a photo on the internet...but turns out i don't I will relink the original photo at photobucket and see what happens. Have to do this tonite though because I am at work now.
Thanks.

Photobucket will resize it automatically if its too big......just try and rename the pic and submit it to photobucket again
rapunzel47 25th October 2005, 04:35 PM Jen, I just followed your link. Neat collage of photos. As it stands, it will be too big for your sig, both in file size and in height -- it needs to be no more than 30Kb and no more than 150 pixels high. So you might want to work on that while you're sorting out the linking problem.
WellingtonCats 26th October 2005, 05:00 AM I clicked the link and the picture wont show up because of errors?!
RockinRhonda 26th October 2005, 05:06 AM samething i clicked the link but i cant see it uhm wonder what happen it will show up keep on trying :)
rapunzel47 26th October 2005, 06:18 AM Well, that's bizarre! I just clicked the link again, and it's still good for me -- a neat collage of pics...:dk:
RoseHawke 26th October 2005, 02:35 PM I might can help with this. You say you reduced it quite a lot ... Are you using Paint Shop Pro or Photoshop? I was having problems with graphics "disappearing" and not showing up with PSP, and it SEEMS to be (I never really verified) a problem with one or some of the compression logarithms when you're optimizing a .jpg with the chroma subsampling. Try changing the parameters and see if this fixes the problem. Just something to try.
hissy 26th October 2005, 03:25 PM New sigs will not show until after the upgrade- sorry-
Exhead 26th October 2005, 10:33 PM I'm not a noob but where do I find the area to place the URL to my sig or upload it?

In the User Control Panel [leftmost on the bar right under the CatSite banner], the first item in Settings & Options is "Edit Signature". You'll probably need to wait until the server upgrade is complete and all features are re-activated, though.
Exhead 27th October 2005, 08:36 PM I've looked through all the options and see nothing that refers to a signature. I am a forum admin myself elsewhere so again nit a noob :)
My Options panel looks like this. Maybe the upgrade?

rapunzel47 27th October 2005, 08:40 PM "Maybe the upgrade?"
Yup -- I did mention that I think.:)
jcat 27th October 2005, 10:11 PM Apparently you can now edit signatures again. I did so about an hour ago, and had no trouble.
icklemiss21 28th October 2005, 12:42 AM I don't think I lost the oprion to change my sig - do you have to have a certain # of posts for sigs as well as avatars?
mine looks like this

Deb25 28th October 2005, 12:45 AM For the first 24 hours and 5 posts, you do not have signature options.
