I have the Litter Maid automatic box and the instructions recommend using "premium" clumping litter. I am using an unrecommended litter because it's cheaper (Scoop Away). It works well for the most part, however, there are still little clumps being left behind by the rake that I have to scoop daily. I'm thinking of giving the Litter Maid premium litter a try to see if it does any better. It is quite a bit more expensive, but if it will last longer between total changes without all the "leftovers", I think it would be worth the extra $$. Has anyone else tried it?

the littermaid premium litter is corn based, which i've read is repackaged World's Best Cat Litter. you should be able to find WBCL for a little cheaper. Petsmart is selling the 17lb bag for $15.99 with their loyalty card.

Thats funny you said that, I just purchased the littermaid automatic box and the littermaid cat litter, I also have a hooded box, and since I read good reviews about Worlds Best, I also bought that, and after setting up the littermaid and the hooded I noticed both litters looked and smelled alike.

The littermaid litter is really expensive. I used to use it. I use Tidy Cats Crystals blend now, and it works exactly the same as the littermaid litter. The nice thing about the littermaid litter is the lack of dust- I might switch back to it because my rabbit loves to play in the cats' litter boxes and dust is bad for rabbits.

Overall though, I'd say what you're using is fine. The littermaid stuff has it's advantages, but the Tidy Cats clumps just as well.

The Littermaid litter was $9.99, and the World's Best was $17.99. The Littermaid bag was half or less than half the size of World's Best. For now I am going to stick with WB.
