She was a somewhat elderly lady who has been doing this not for money but for the enjoyment of raising and giving people the opportunity to own such cats. She was so nice she even emailed me pictures of the available cats. This way I didn't have to make a trip only to be dissappointed. Needless to say I wasn't. I am truly greatful and recommend checking local papers throughout your states. Maybe you will have such good fortunes. :love:
What type of cat food is better for Himalayans or cats in general. I do know that protein is very important. Thanks!

Congrats on the babie. You will want to make sure to keep your baby on a Kitten food, and change the little one over slowly from what the baby is eating now. You can alwways stay on what the breeder is feeding, or there are many many foods out there.

Most important is you want to feed a food that has the first ingrident of real meat...and many on the boards love the foods with NO byproducts. I personally feed Purina Pro Plan, Kitten for my kits, and Adult Care for the adults. And will be mixing in a hair ball maitence as well.

Royal Canin, makes a Persian formula which would be good for a Himmi if you wanted to go that route as well. I am sure you will get many more replies with some of the other favoured foods as well :)

Most of all, go with whats in your budjet, good for your kitty, and what your kitty likes.

I don't know much about food, but I do know that you want a food that has a meat ingredient first... not a supplement or any grains, not a by-product of meat, but actual meat. Most people on these boards think that any cat food brand that fits that requirement are very good. Hope that helps! :wavey:

Christian...welcome to TCS....although I can appreciate this woman's intentions...there are literally hundreds of Himalayan cats in shelters and rescues throughout the USA. I would recommend individuals check with their local shelter/rescue before checking in the paper.

Also, I would highly recommend that you get your kitten's spay appt. set up now for when she turns 6 months of age.

Alright, now I'm concerned...I use Purina too, but I went to look on the ingredients, and it says, "Poultry by product meal."

Please tell me why this isn't good or is it ok? I didn't know about all this. I want to feed my cats whatever is best for them.
