My Zoey is a bengal mix who was feral before haveing a litter at the shelter .. the shleter is where I got her.... My arms are covered with scratch marks... I bought some clippers... The problem is she doesnt like being held and the working with paw touching is going very slowly... Any tips??

I always let people know there's an easy way out. My vet and Petsmart both charge 8 dollars for a claw trimming. (I also called the grooming salons in the area, and their going rate was 4 dollars.) In the beginning, I was too scared to do it myself, and what was great is that the cats were kind of scared of being there, so they sat perfectly still and let the other people trim them with no problems.

I do my cats' claws by ambushing them while they're asleep. I can usually only get a couple of claws done each time, so it takes me a day or two to do all of them - but it works well for us.

Let sleeping kitties lay.. and trim their nails while they dream :) Works for me.. Buddy is NOT to happy about his paws being touched either although I keep working on it. But it really is easier to do when hes so sleeping he could care less. :)

Monte is so laid back, he does not mind, but I wrap him in a blanket when I am doing it. It helps to control their limbs....and protect yours

Same for us. Unless Chloe's in a VERY deep sleep, I do them over the course of a day or two while she snoozes.

I too clip when they are snoozing on my bed.... I use human fingernail clippers... works well :) They let me do all there nails at one clipping....I let them smell the clipper it seems to help I have two cats. So I do them both when they are napping together. and talk softy to them ...then again, they are 8 and half years old... there kinda use to it by now....

If I even try to clip Limerick's nails he acts like I'm killing him. He gets tuna afterward but still he hates it. I have never clipped him so short he's bleed, but he freaks anyway. I try to get it done while he's sleeping, usually works better.

I can't clip while they sleep. The second the skin of my finger touches the tips of the hair on their feet, they're wide awake.

I would work a long time on holding her, petting her, and just spending time in the same room. Get her trust first. Keep massaging her paws. If you need to clip her nails right away, then wear gloves, and do it fast. Reward her with a treat afterwards.
